Since a big part of our goal here at Lost Zombies is to make a
movie, we thought it would be helpful to get a list going of movies
that relate to our project. I've started with Zombie(ish) movies
but I think we can branch out into anything you guys think is
relevant to our project. If you have a recommendation send me a
message with the movie title and why you like it.
This list is by no means complete, it's an evolving thing. So make
your recommendations.
PLEASE NOTE each movie title links to Netflix. Why? Because if you sign up for a free
Netflix trial account Lost Zombies earns some cash. But also we
believe Netflix is a great service that allows you to
rent and stream movies at a fair monthly price. It's well worth it
if you watch a lot of movies or have a device you can stream movies
to for free like a Wii, Xbox, PS3, iPad, iPhone or whatever else is
out there.
Night of the Living Dead
As dead bodies inexplicably return to life and feast on human
flesh, young Barbara (Judith O'Dea) joins a group of survivors in a
farmhouse hoping to protect themselves from the hordes of advancing
zombies. But soon enough, only one person remains. Writer-director
George A. Romero's low-budget horror classic continues to inspire
heebie-jeebies, in part because of the randomness of the zombies'
targets.
Dawn of the Dead
Picking up where Night of the Living Dead left off, this classic
horror flick from director George A. Romero begins with an undead
army of flesh-eating zombies taking over every major city in the
United States. Running for their lives, Peter (Ken Foree), Roger
(Scott H. Reiniger), Stephen (David Emge) and Frances (Gaylen Ross)
find refuge in a remote shopping mall, only to discover they have
to fight a motorcycle gang, too.
Dead Alive
Although it's easy to admire the maniacal glee of director Peter
Jackson's bloodfest, Dead Alive is nonetheless intense and
profoundly disturbing. When a Sumatran rat-monkey bites Lionel
Cosgrove's mother, she's transformed into a zombie. She begins
killing (and transforming) the entire town while Lionel races to
keep things under control. Events culminate at a house party that
turns into a blood-drenched zombie buffet.
Zombie
After a New York harbor patrolman is murdered at the hands of a
flesh-hungry ghoul aboard an abandoned yacht, Anne (Tisa Farrow) --
the daughter of the ship's missing owner -- teams with a newspaper
reporter (Ian McCulloch) for a private investigation. Clues
eventually lead them to a Caribbean island where the dead refuse to
stay dead. A voodoo curse is at work, and now a battle with the
bloodthirsty zombies awaits.
Shaun of the Dead
Thirty-something slacker Shaun (Simon Pegg) has no clue what to do
with his life or with his relationship with his girlfriend, Liz
(Kate Ashfield). But motivation comes in the form of a freak zombie
attack that has once-ordinary citizens terrorizing the streets of
London. With support from his well-meaning best mate (Nick Frost),
Shaun acts quickly to save Liz and his mother (Penelope Wilton)
from danger. But is it simply too late for heroics?
28 Days Later
Twenty-eight days after a killer virus was accidentally unleashed
from a British research facility, a small group of London survivors
(including Cillian Murphy and Brendan Gleeson) are caught in a
desperate struggle to protect themselves from the infected. Carried
by animals and humans, the virus turns those it infects into
homicidal maniacs -- and it's absolutely impossible to contain.
Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) directs.
28 Weeks Later
n this chilling sequel to 28 Days Later, the inhabitants of the
British Isles appear to have lost their battle against the
onslaught of disease, as the deadly rage virus has killed every
citizen there. Six months later, a group of Americans dare to set
foot on the isles, convinced the danger has come and gone. But it
soon becomes all too clear that the scourge continues to live,
waiting to pounce on its next victims.
Dawn of the Dead (remake)
Based on the 1978 George Romero gore classic, this horror remake
takes place in the wake of a plague as the United States is overrun
by millions of corpses who walk the earth as cannibalistic zombies.
A small group of survivors, including a nurse (Sarah Polley) and a
police officer (Ving Rhames), try to find shelter within a massive
shopping mall. But the zombies have a kind of sense memory and
start arriving -- in droves -- for a shopping spree.
Fido
Director Andrew Currie's imaginative horror-comedy follows the
misadventures of typical boy-next-door Timmy Robinson (K'Sun Ray)
and his very unusual pet -- a loyal, lumbering zombie named Fido
(Billy Connolly). Problems arise when Fido breaks loose and noshes
on a neighbor. Timmy is suddenly forced into damage-control mode
while he tries to persuade his parents (Carrie-Anne Moss and Dylan
Baker) to keep Fido.
Zombieland
An easily spooked guy, Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), joins forces
with wild man Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) to fight for survival
in a world virtually taken over by freakish zombies. As they
destroy scores of the undead, they meet up with two other
survivors, Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) and Wichita (Emma Stone),
and journey to a supposedly safe abandoned amusement park. Ruben
Fleischer directs this horror romp.
Zombie Diaries
In the not-too-distant future, a mysterious plague has spread to
every corner of the planet. Once it kills, the virus reanimates the
dead, transforming them into flesh-eating zombies. This film
reveals the terror through the eyes of its witnesses. Video cameras
from a documentary film crew, a couple fleeing London (ground zero
for the virus) and a band of survivors holed up in a barn capture
the relentless zombie attack as it happens.
