I was sitting in my livingroom, watching Will & Grace reruns, when some people came bannging at my door. They were screaming about being chased by some crazy people. I let them in to call the police, but we soon found out the police would not be coming. They were answering call all over town. These "crazy people" continued to beat on the doors and walls for quite some time. The two girls, one was 29 the other about 20, were really freaking out. One of the guys, sat in a corner, his face buried in his hands. He kept mumbling, "They're eating them. They're eating them, man. Oh my God. . . " We decided to see if anything was on the tv or radio about this. Christ, was there! All over the world this was happening. All over the whole fucking planet! At the same fucking time! How the hell could this be? No one had a clue. None of the military, government officials, scientists, doctors, no one had a clue. One thing they all agreed on: This was not an orchestrated bioterrorist attack. Not on this scale. Hell, at one point, they showed the U.S. troops standing side by side with the Al Queda forces trying to stop this massive wall of walking death. What got to me was that this was bad enough to force such bitter enemies to fight back to back against these zombies. Funny thing is; no one ever called them zombies. You could clearly see these things were dead (or at least no quite living).
Everyone was being attacked: reporters, civilians, military, government, you name it. At one point, they showed the national guard use a tank to fire into a swarming mass of an approaching zombie horde. Out of 200, or so, 150 were still advancing. Fast! Some were on fire. Others had large holes ripped through their torsos from shrapnel, and still they ran at them. These things were obviously dead, but there they were running and attacking people all over the world.
The carnage was so much worse than any movie. The fact that it was real, made it more surreal. We all sat and watched in silent horror.
Ken started to tell me they were driving a mini van through town, when they had to stop in the road. Seems there were close to a hundred of them walking down that back road. A literal wall of death. When they saw the van, the zombies began to run at it full sprint. Unfortunately, while keeping an eye on the zombies, and in a moment of pure terror, Wally drove in reverse into a ditch. They got stuck. It didn't take long for the zombies to reach the mini van. In a matter of moments they flipped the vehicle upside down. All four of the guys were able to fight them off long enough for them and the two girls to get out of the upturned mini van, allowing them to run here.
Unfortunately, this place is pretty old. The doors are the original, 70 year old, doors. The windows are a bit more sturdy. I replaced them 2 years ago. So they were able to withstand the beating a little better. Next thing we know, the zombies begin swarming in through the back door. Don't know why, but I took this picture with my phone just as we were running out the other door.
We, thankfully, made it to a library in Collinsville, IL. Which is about 40 miles east. After seeing what we saw on the way here. . . . I don't think we'll survive as a species. Not this time.
Stacy was bit on the way in the library. Not too bad. Barely broke the skin. But she keeps complaining of migraines and stomach aches. Whatever she's got it's pretty bad. We lost Dale and Brad on the way here. God, it's so fucking hard to sleep at night. Besides that constant moaning coming from everywhere at once, everytime I close my eyes I see Dale and Brad being torn to shreds before my eyes. Not figuratively. LITERALLY. Jesus Christ, the screams that came from their throats as 20 or more just piled onto them. They were biting and clawing at them. We saw some walking away from the writhing mass with handfulls or meat ripped from their still living bodies. The screams stopped when we saw some walking with handsful of intestines and other parts. I'm not gonna die like that. I swear to God I won't. I'll take my own life before experiencing that.
I'll post more blogs as I'm able. Not sure when some idiot's gonna try driving through town and end up crashing into a utility pole and taking away this precious electricity.
