I think "zombie", in this case, means any reanimated corpse, not just a walking, but mindless, shell.
And, technically, a zombie is anyone/thing that died but was revived, usually by a virus, without normal "living" functions…

A half-turned Zombie is a frightening prospect. Personally I would try to protect my family, by scavanging for food and supplies whilst being immune to attacks from the mindless variety.

If you have intelligence, that's one thing. But just because you have intelligence doesn't mean they do...there's no way you could control a zombie army, except maybe making loud noises to get them to…
