It has been exhausting...playing keep-away. After lying on a muddy creek bank to avoid a lone ZMB in darkness, and then having to fast-haul my ass up several hillsides and occasionally smashing into trees, I managed to find an opening in the forest with enough starlight to silhouette a structure standing dark and alone in the middle. ...after 5 days of slogging upriver with still no sign of habitation, I'm worried. Just after last post, I managed to climb out on a hugh log that had fallen across a deep creek. I slept fitfully propped against a limb for rest of the scary night. Sounds that at first sent birds of adrenaline through my body have become almost friendly now, though I continue to keep my wits sharp. River is quiet even though leaves stir in a gentle breeze along this trail atop the 10' bank. There is almost no direction known here, except West, still found by failing hues of faintest blue. I'm unsure which way to go though. Down river must lead generally South, and surely lead me out eventually. But I think I got here from farther up river because that's where my gut tells me to go.
