Good news and Bad news

I prefer hearing the bad news before the good news. Gives me something to look forward too. The man we evac'd was infected. Turned the next day into a runner. I shot him in the heart a few times, he seemed to die but was back up in about 5 minutes or so. Confirms my theory about runners. Waste of ammo. Regardless, go for the head. They wont get back up. I was hoping I could at least get the general area where he had come from so we could plan our next operation. His answers were not helpful. I…See More

Oregon Update 1

"Thanks much for the info. My Search and Rescue team can get to you, but we will need time to gather supplies for the trip. If you can post that map of the zed activity it'll greatly help. If you can put me in touch with your contacts, it would…"

Finally found someone

It has been at least a month since my team has found anyone alive, or at least alive and uninfected. My team has been moving by day through this small town we are currently occupying. The dead are easy to avoid. Im sure they can hear us though...and smell us. If we stop moving, they come to us. It makes it hard to search for survivors when we know that it's only a matter of time before the dead find us. My team has gotten extremely quick at clearing buildings. We still need to work on saving…See More

"My team has encountered runners in groups, but just a few. They do seem to flock together like they know they have an advantage. I would say that a 'safe house' was compromised. I didn't think they would work in groups the way you…"

James Baker commented on Justin Nash's blog post Zombie armor suggestion
"very good ideas Nash. Id like to add if you can get some under armor, wear that on the outside of any thing. It's really hard to get a grip on someone wearing this. Keep your hair short and don't shave. Not shaving is effective for 2…"

"if that driver is getting your team killed, tell him to clean the sand out of his vag and man up. Id advise training a driver for these kind of missions so you dont have to rely on people like this."

"One thing that the guide doesn't mention are runners. Any mode of transportation without protection would be very risky if there are runners around."

"any aviation would be out of the question without a sufficient supply structure. Airplanes need room to land and takeoff. Helicopters would be a better alternative for short distance travel, but are much harder to fly than airplanes. Both require…"

James Baker replied to ghoul's discussion The worst weapons to use against the living dead.
"Depends on the situation. If you're trying to move through an area without attracting attention, a silencer is your best bet especially when you don't know if a runner is around. However, with ammo scarce a melee weapon can be the best…"

About Me...
Ex Military deployed to Afghanistan during the beginning of the outbreak. I was extended up until July of 2007 when i was sent back to Oregon to help enforce the martial law in effect. Command thought that we would be more effective in our own communities. Desertion and mutiny were becoming more common. I was given orders to execute any of my soldiers that disobeyed orders immediately. We were being given unlawful orders that I was not about to allow my men to follow. One of my men killed himself and 2 others disserted. Keeping Order after the new supposed 'cure' hit the market, all hell broke loose. Looting was even more rampant. I was given orders to protect the shipments, but i wanted nothing more to shoot every one of those bastards for taking advantage of a situation like this. When we got word from command to be on the lookout for 'dead' looking people just after the newspaper article came out. A few days after that we were in full combat. The dead were everywhere. MY squad was assigned to do suburban search and rescue. We saved a few, and a few more of my men succomed to bites and took their own lives. After the 6th of november, we stopped getting orders from command. I was left with only 5 soldiers at this time. I gave them the option to return home, or to stay with me and save as many as we could. 2 left for home. They attacked us later that day. We though it was them because of how they were moving. Much faster than the others. We killed them. We moved on. 12 survivors, Myself, and 3 of my men.
At the time of the zombie outbreak I was...

He was a "trained" driver but he was not mine. He was pushed upon us by our employer. I usually have a team member driving no matter what is being transported. Needless to say new conditions are going into our base contracts, seeing is how hard it is to find the kind of men I have working with me.
