The human mouth contains a type of bacteria that can lead to serious infection.
For example, one who has nicked their knuckle against a tooth may lose the finger.
Even if, by some bizzare twist of fate, zombies did not spread the virus through their saliva, if bitten in a post-apocalyptic world, one would probably die without medical care available.
