Well, so much for all this having a rational explanation -- the guy reanimated about a day after the attack. The zed (what Alex calls zombies, and quicker to type) had damaged his face/eyes pretty badly, but he still turned and came after us like he had radar for flesh. It was pretty damn terrifying, he got through a lot of our boards, but eventually we took him down. Focusing on the head makes that simpler.

Alex finally came back from his supply run a few hours ago. The stores he went to aren't so far away, but he didn't elaborate on why he was gone so long, just told me to shut up and do what he said if I was interested in staying alive. No way will I be doing that; since he was gone so long, I was able to read that survival guide he left with me, and to piece together a few of the more suspect news stories and events into a coherent, though crazy, conclusion.

I haven't written in a while, but circumstances sorta prevented that. Basically, on the way back from Radioshack (picked clean), we got stopped by the cops! They had us all step out of the car and questioned us about any suspicious activity that had happened or any attacks we might've experienced. None of us had, but it was really unsettling -- between those cops and the newscasters I keep seeing telling us all about the supposed "gang warfare" sweeping the county, I've never seen so many freake… Continue

Here's more on that injured guy who washed up on the shore yesterday -- my friend's mom works at the hospital, so I got a lot of the details. He must've been crazy or something, because she said the guy didn't speak at all. He sort of moaned and made "weird, animal-like sounds," according to the staff.

Not only that, but he actually tried to bite the EMTs as they unloaded him. They had to strap him down, and even then he still managed to break one girl's skin. I hope she's current on her… Continue

So, today was kind of nice -- spent most of it at the beach, winding down from finals and trying to escape all the bad shit on the news lately. It seems like every time I turn on the TV or load up my feed reader, there's another depressing news story -- wildfires, crazed locals, gang riots... Sometimes I really wonder what's wrong with this state!
