The night before was as normal as every other night, spent some time with my boyfriend and best friend; playing a couple rounds of Call of Duty, the morning after on the other hand was not as normal...

i believe that the type of infected person from 28 weeks later is more realistic. in order to move you need to breathe. your muscles need a chemical known as Adenosine triphosphate. without this your muscles would be useless
your body makes this as a part of your respiratory system,
ergo in order to move a zombie cannot be dead or must still retain the ability to breathe
this also settles the underwater zombie argument where it is in question whether a zombie could just walk across the bottom of a river and get to your nice little paradise island. the answer is no they may not die from drowning but wouldn't be able to move very long after entering the water, then they may just get swept away by the current.
