"Considering that (and I suspected so) I like it. Truthfully, I am more of a fan of what I refer to as the "Romero Doctrine" on zombies in that it is a sudden, unexplained phenomena that just happens... Even though I appreciate the sites…"

"True, it doesn't fit the LZ timeline all that well, but I wrote it before I knew LZ existed, and it's a little more standalone. I just thought people here might like to read it. Things are intended to have happened all at once, as a…"

Profile Information

About Me...
My name is Nate. My life has been rather hectic, and I've always seemed to be a magnet for trouble. I have survived one zombie outbreak, and have since taken measures to prepare for another. My hobbies include writing, martial arts, and sword combat, but I spend most of my time gaming. The only thing in my life more important to me than my Xbox 360 is my fince. While video games helped, in a way, to prepare me for the outbreak, it was my beautiful fiance that gave the the will to keep fighting.
At the time of the zombie outbreak I was...
Sitting on my couch the night before Thanksgiving, 2008
Weapon of choice for fighting zombies...
Katana, G18 Pistol, P90 SMG

MOZA, Pt. IX

Posted on April 1, 2009 at 1:26am 0 Comments

The sun was beginning to set, casting an eerie orange glow over the fields before us. I was sitting in the passenger seat of the parked police cruiser, trying to keep a phone signal. Finally, I caught reception and dialed Lorenzo's number. It did not ring; it went straight to his voicemail. I bit my lip and hung up, dialing Leo's number next. It rang twice, and my stiff back loosened a bit as Leo answered.

"Are you guys alright?" he asked immediately.

"We're fine, parked a… Continue

Leadership is a funny thing. When you find yourself in a group, and you suddenly realize this group relies on your voice for guidance, your voice seems to get a lot quieter-- especially when the group is full of people you know. My stiff, slightly shaking body seemed so fragile at that moment. I realized I had somehow ascended to leader of the group, and as an innumerable horde of zombies beat down the doors all around my group of terrified and unprepared friends, I was suddenly unsure if that… Continue

MOZA, Pt. V

The drive to my house was uneventful, but chilling at the same time. It was getting closer and closer to sundown. The time was a little after three in the afternoon, and the streets were no longer empty. There were individual zombies wandering about harmlessly along the streets and even in the roads. Leo did his best to avoid them as we drove back through Joliet towards my apartment.

My entire neighborhood was overrun. I could not imagine how some of my neighbors would have reacted… Continue

MOZA, Pt. IV

As we sprinted past tree after tree, I could see through the foliage into the dead cornfield to my left side. The idea of running through a forest beside a cornfield, fleeing from zombies nonetheless, felt so cliché that I once again felt the need to stop and give myself a reality check. Ryan passed me before stopping and turning toward me with a curious expression.

“This is unreal,” I commented with a trembling sigh.

“Unreal or not, it’s happening. Come… Continue

MOZA, Pt. VII

We were expecting the worst. Once we got to Statesville, we rushed into the ‘big hall’ room and sealed the doors. The catwalk that went over the middle of the room had only a few doors, and we used rebar we found on the way to bar the doors with. The higher ground should protect us from the weaker zombies, and the barricades would help to keep us from getting surrounded. My only worry was the memory I had of the zombies that smashed my car; they were able to jump fifteen feet in one leap.… Continue
