We've been into this one in a couple threads. I believe the spread would happen so quickly that first responders would be overwhelmed. Police, fire and EMS would have to smart up quick at what they are dealing with or end up joining the ranks.

I wouldn't trust most of the kids I know with guns. I don't think any of them have any experience with guns beyond maybe a weekend hunting with grandpa. most of them would probably be too stressed during an attack to use the weapons.

I think that the speed should depend directly on the amount of decay. fresh cadavers can run as fast as they could before reanimation. rotted shreds of flesh and bone can barely pull themselves along
