news and information on events of outbreak
After my return from camping in the Hualapai Mountain area here in Kingman it didnt seem like anything was wrong at first. I live close to the mountain area so those who knew of it had either left town or were boarded up in thier homes. I was tired from my campout and went to sleep. My dogs woke me up a few hours later when someone was banging at my door. I looked through the peephole to see it was a freind of mine that I worked with. He was very frantic and practically histerical. He asked me why I hadnt boarded up my windows and doors yet and spun me, which seemed a great yarn at the time being, about being at the race track and seeing a group of people making thier way around the fence line to the track entrance. He said most people were paying no attention and they continued to watch the race. Things went very crazy when they started to hear screaming, yelling, and gunfire. There was what he called a "stampead" of people going from one end of the stands to the other. For easier reference my friend's name is Tony. He became more distraught when he reached the part where he was seperated from his wife and daughter Emily and Sue respectively. Tony said that most people were in a state of shock. You see movies like this but never think it would ever come true. He found himself a pipe near a maintanance shed and began to swing at anything that didnt "look right". Tony broke down when he saw his wife Emily's body. He recognized her from her clothes because as he said most of her face looked as if it had been peeled away. He never found his little girl Sue. I need to describe the race track I am speaking of. It is on the outskirts of town. Its not a professional raceway. It has been run by people that paid for the land and have been running it and its upkeep for about 30 years. Its a nice half mile facility. Mostly for midget and sprint cars at most, but they put on some good organized races and a fair amount of people go to see them. Tony had been involved with it since he moved to Kingman about 15 years ago. I say this because the track is close to where the outbreak origionated, This is what Tony would next tell me he found out earlier that day before he came to see me. The water treatment plant here in town was how it started. A majority of people started filling the hospital seemingly all at once just 2 days ago. A day after I went camping. And all at once the sick people in the hospital died. They thought anyway. Reports stated that "they" cameback almost immediatly and tore the hospital apart. After getting a couple of Tequila shots in Tony to try and calm him down, he finished his story of the town water. A Maneging supervisor of the plant had just returned from vacation about a week before the outbreak. No one was sure where he went, but when the facility was checked they found him dead in the main water return or whatever you call it. His body had 2 bite marks on his shoulders. After finding an empty bottle of Black Lable near where he was found he must have gotten drunk and fell in. With no emergency TV about what is going on we have only been able to rely on radio reports. I knew the shit had really hit the fan when I turned on my XM radio to hear every channel was on the emergency network. My friend Tony has brought alot of his stuff here to my place. I have a well fenced house and pretty good alarm with my dogs. Since then we have been trying to make my place a little stronger and making a trip of two to town for supplies. That is the hard part because people are shooting anyone. Other have laid claim on stores and bigger buildings. For now we are trying to eliminate as many as we can to make it easier to get around town. Its slow going but were making progress.
