I want the Government/Military to stay out of my way as I save my own life and that of my family and friends. I don't see them as friend or foe. They are a tool just like any other tool.

yea, nut the government is really powerful. if they somewhat take back the us after an apocalyptic situation, they will have access to heavy firepower, and if you resist them, they will destroy you.

I'm going to try to be the optimistic one:
I think the government, despite all its defects, would fight to save its people. And I think as long as the government is fully functioning, we can also take refuge with the military as well.
