Wow. My brother wanted one of these too but isn't biting cuz they are pricey. You are looking anywhere from $870 to $1200 depending on the model. The Linky is a blued version with 5" barrel in 45 colt. But, alas, currently sold out. This one is in stock.

You might want to look in to a replica Colt 1872 open top. Not as pretty as the Schofield but still a nice gun. I got out of the old time cowby guns. I prefer a nice 1911 variant.

 

Did you ever score an AR? I can get you a base gun for around $750 + shipping to your FFL. That would be a Del Ton with lifetime warranty. I can get others too. Prices vary.

Hey .223. I've owned two Bushmasters because they were a deal at the time I bought them. They've performed well and I wouldn't mind owning a couple more. That being said there are quite a few manufacturers making good guns at this time. Everything depends on what you want to pay. My first Bushmaster I bought new about 1999. I paid $750 with an LEO Only distributor. It was really nice and I can kick myself for ever selling it. At the time I was done with CRT and wanted to pick up some Single Action Army pistols. My current Bushmaster I bought used back in December. I paid $675 for it. I replaced the hand-guards with a quad-rail and added a light, single point sling and vertical fore-grip. A guy I work with offered me $900 as is. Had to turn him down.

I pointed him tow a couple different manufacturers who make the gun and accessories. I'll start a discussion in Off Topic on ARs. I'm sure there are others with similar questions and opinions that can help you out.

If I was to buy a new AR today it would likely be a STAG Arms. Watch for the discussion.
