The tugging and tearing kept bringing him back into the blurry haze of consciousness. There was a couple of seconds pause before the pain shot up the back of his calf and into his groin. Grinding his face into the concrete floor, blackness began to creep into the edge of his vision, purple spots…
I can't find her. She'd called in the middle of the night, shouting at me to come to her house. Though she was my best friend, and crush, I was still doubtful if I should. I decided yes, and hurriedly tossed on a white tee, and a pair of dark blue jeans. It was starting to get colder, and the days shorter, so I grabbed my DC jacket from the wall. The door slammed behind me, the wind instantly whipping my hair back. It wasn't called the windy city for nothing. I walked down the steps of my…Continue

Beyond surviving the initial hordes of infected which will swarm our world as we know it, starvation and dehydration are an extremely critical factor to consider when planning to endure the zombie apocalypse. The effects caused by malnutrition can and will hinder your ability to function and if severe enough will eventually lead to death!
Imagine, just a for a moment, encountering a group of the undead.
The sounds their lifeless bodies make as they notice your presence.…
Not too long ago, this afternoon, I was updating my blog when randomly I received an IM from LZ memeber, JOHNNY boy. This was the first time, I've interacted with this person and was pleasantly surprised as the initial communication by this person was an emoicon. "What an odd way to say 'Hello'" I thought, and replied with a traditional smiley of my own.
You know, it will never cease to shock me how rapidly people will turn on one another when faced with the prospect of death. That neighbour you saw every day and politely nod too as you climb into your car to begin the never ending routine of work and rest would more than likely kill you if he saw you as a threat, he’d probably kill you for a glass of water or a chocolate bar when the shelves of the local stores have been empty for long enough. People, westerns are perhaps the guiltiest,…Continue

We needed supplies.
There's plenty of water. Only enough food to last us a few more days. Nearly exhausted our medical inventory. At this point there may only be a couple guns left among us.
Just a couple miles from the edge of town and I recall a little gun store on the road along the Rogue River. It's likely been looted already, no doubt. We need everything we can get though.
I could be back before dark, easily. Fortunately we have plenty…
It was like a chaotic orchestra. The sound of dozens of car alarms playing out of rhythm had amplified off the hills on which I was jogging, that afternoon.
Peering through a nearby treeline, I managed a glimpse of what was an unfamiliar Grants Pass. Vehicles piled together, smoke and flame emerged violently as the community of people fled in random directions.
A clearer view, I thought, was needed to get a better understanding of what was really going on below.…
I woke up groaning with a headache and a sore groin. It was dark out. I was in the warehouse in my sleeping bag with a fire beside me. All my stuff was there. The girl was there eating something out of a can. I jumped up and immediately regretted it. My whole body throbbed dully. I sank back down to the ground. She was watching me intently. She had like those really intense blue eyes that remind me of those blue glaciers that I'm sure are making their comeback now that we've stopped warming…Continue
Remember in the days before the world stopped, when we used to lay in bed, but the two of. We'd talk about things. The past, what we wanted for the future. I remember one day telling you, 'Together we can do anything.'
That bed saw so much of our lives as a married couple. We struggled with my fertility issues there, our son was conceived in that bed, and that's where you told me about the unusual symptoms you were experiencing. I admit at first I didn't completely believe…Continue
Whether you dream by day, or dream by night; you will without a doubt have dreams. Even in this land of death. It is up to you to make those dreams come true, or simply let them pass away quietly.
Being the dreamer that I am has never ceased to cause grief, heartache, or misfortune. I have experienced more of these three ridiculous facts of dreams than I care to recall. That hasn't stopped me from dreaming. It never will. Why should one simply stop doing what their mind wants to do?…Continue

I went into our basement to check on the generator. I needed to know if it needed to be refilled. I noticed the fuel was a little bit low so I had to shut everything down just to refill it. I heard some shuffling against the far wall of the basement. On a normal day, I would have dismissed it as a rat of some sort but given the current situation, I decided to look into the direction the sound was coming from. I picked up a piece of wood as my…Continue
Its quiet…Back in the good ol days quiet was something that we never had. You couldn’t in a big city. Then again there was always something to do. Not like now. Now the only things that move out in the light of day are things that should have stayed in the ground. They were once human…but not now. When things went crazy out in the world I had taken to ground for about a month and a half in my building. I was lucky. When those things came everyone was booking it. It also helped that my…Continue
It is dark until I strike a match on the side of the wall, illuminating two beautiful innocent eye's watching me light her candles. I reach over and flip on an old tape recorder that plays her favorite song. The sweet sounds of violins playing softly brings the whole moment together for her. It's been four years ago to the day when she took her first breath and now she is using that breath to blow out her birthday candles. "Happy Birthday sweet heart," I tell her. She looks up at me from…Continue

I was trying and failing to board up one of the giant windows at the warehouse. Its pretty high up so I don't think any zombies can get in but it gets fucking freezing in here at night. Anyway I was kind of boarding up the windows when I heard this rattling clanking noise outside. I climbed down, grabbed my gun, and slid across the wall to the doorway. I looked real quick outside and was completely surprised at what I saw. It was a truck or what used to be a truck. The walls on the back…Continue
