She was 2 years old when she first saw a pumpkin.

 

      She can still remember her first Halloween, a long time ago.  The sweets, the family.

It was about 3:00 pm when I realized I was almost out of food. At first I had no clue where to go, but then I remembered a little corner store hidden behind the hospital. It was so hard to find that most people weren't aware of it at all. I hoped it had not been raided. It took me a long time to get there, not because of the zeds, but because of the sheer amount of damage done to the roads. There were cars; lots of recked cars, dead people, and broken glass.

I found myself strangely different today. Something just didn't seem right. I had a hell of a time sleeping last night, so I assumed it was just lack of sleep. Maybe it was. Maybe it wasn't. It didn't really matter I guess. I laid in bed for an hour after the alarm went off. Then I realized the time. I had to leave the house for work in 20 minutes. Fuck. No shower today. No breakfast. No coffee. The day was already starting off shitty.

I'm taking part in National Novel Writing Month. NANOWRIOMO started yesterday November 1st. The goal of NANOWRIMO is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I'm using this as an opportunity to write a story about patient zero in the Lost Zombies mythology. When we were coming up with the idea for the site I had a notion of how the virus began. It's a story I've wanted to explore for a long time.
