I can hear them downstairs.



In our rush to secure the building, we thought it wisest to move everything useful upstairs, then seal off the stairwells. That way, we reasoned, we wouldn't have to secure the dozens of windows on the first floor. A good plan, a solid plan.



I think some of the rooms still had people in them when we blocked off the stairs. Still, you know what they say: you can't make an omelette without killing a few people.

Why start out writing about my morning when it has nothing to do with the major events of the day: either to pass time or stall talking about the disturbing bits. Well, I spent most of my day staring out the window of our lounge, wondering if we should make an expedition outside again. Last time we were fine, not much to see, not much to do.
