Artemis woke to a blaring siren. Not an ambulance. A siren that would go off if you were under attack.

Artemis bolted out of bed, and apparently Alli had heard it too. They both had slept in their day clothes, so all they had to do was pick up their guns and load them. Artemis slung his shotgun over his back, wiped dirt off his dungaree jacket, and grinned. A battle, for once. A chance to shoot an infected. He kicked the door open, expecting infected to be everywhere.…

If you happen to see an old episode up front, don't worry. I probably found a spelling error, and when you re-publish a blog post, it brings it up front (Don't ask me why, I dunno.). I figured I'd clear that up. And I deeply regret not putting up a new Endless Night sooner, but Day Twelve will be up soon, I promise. Oh, and there will also be a new member of Artemis's group.

I don't think Artemis got a chance to see what I saw, because a body smashed into the windshield, blinding Matt, who swerved the SUV to avoid getting hit, and, needless to say, couldn't see where he was going. The SUV smashed through a crowd of infected, and rammed through a metal fence. Everyone but Artemis had a chance to pile out before being sandwiched. Everyone but him.

Alli was furious. Who did Artemis think he was? King George? "Ha!" Alli said aloud. Who was it that saved him from the horde at the yellow house? Alli. As you may well have noticed, Alli and Artemis are all that is left of their group. I'm holding a contest to see who can make the best new survivor in a short story, and maybe that same survivor (With your permission, of course!) will become a member of Artemis's group in Endless Night! Artemis couldn't register what was going on. He was having one of those "Out of body" experiences everyone talks about. He saw himself, jumping off the roof of the small, yellow house, towards the mob of zombies- a 10 foot drop. He couldn't help but think this was suicide. Alli was dumbfounded. The infected were barreling towards her one minute, and were quite literally gone the next. Alli looked around over and over. Artemis pulled out his pistol. As you might have read in Day Six, Part Two, our survivors encounter a chainsaw infected (Sometimes called a chainsaw maniac) and a mob of zombies behind it. This was inspired by a PC game called Nation Red (Get it on Steam!) and in Nation Red, zombies could wield axes, melee weapons, even Ak-47s. While I didn't want to overkill our survivors, I didn't want to just have the same ol' runners and slow-goers and possums. That, my friends, is how the Chainsaw Infected came to be in Endless…
