50,067 words... Victory!

Moments ago I achieved the goal I began on November 1st to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. In fact I finished one day early. The novel I wrote tells the story of how the outbreak began from the perspective of patient zero. I hope to re-write and edit the novel into something that I just might be…

NANOWRIMO DAY #21: Mushy Brain

I've written 35,026 words of a novel. I'm on track to hit the 50,000 word count goal established by NANOWRIMO.

I write 1,667 words a day. That part hasn't been difficult. The words come quickly and easily. The problem is that I'm using up all my words, like my brain is only willing to formulate so many sentences a day. After my daily writing, inevitably I'm be required to speak with another living person. I try to avoid it…

NANOWRIMO DAY #14: Starting week three

I've written 21,699 words in my NANOWRIMO novel. That's somewhere around 80 pages. I'm on track to hit 50k words by the end of the month.

The writing is going smoothly, at least in terms of getting my daily quota of words written. The story, however, is all over the place. Instead of writing in chronological order I've been jumping forward and back in time. I'm doing this because I need to be sure to tackle important plot…

NANOWRIMO DAY #7: Starting week two

I'm currently at 11,674 words in my NANOWRIMO novel. My goal is to reach 50,000 words by November 30th. I'm happy to say that I'm on track.

The writing is getting easier each day. That said, the story is currently a mishmash of scenes. On one page the main character is recounting his life in high school, on the next he's describing the conditions at Camp St. Teresa and pointing out that the Camp's location is suspiciously…

NANOWRIMO DAY #4: Need some input

Day #4 of the NANOWRIMO. I have 4,979 words written. I'm on track to hit 50k words by the end of the month.

I want this book to feel like a found object from the Lost Zombies universe. We captured that feeling perfectly with Dead Inside: Do Not Enter. My goal with this story is to create a book that achieves 4 things:

1. It should feel real. I want it to feel as though it was written in the midst of a zombie outbreak.

2.…

NANOWRIMO DAY #3: I need your questions

As I mentioned in my last blog post, I'm writing a novel in 30 days.

Current Progress: 3363 words... On track to hit 50k words by Nov 30

The story is about a 17 year old who was at the testing facility mentioned in the Lost Zombies timeline. This…

NANOWRIMO DAY #2 "Writing a Lost Zombies Book in 30 Days"

I'm taking part in National Novel Writing Month. NANOWRIOMO started yesterday November 1st. The goal of NANOWRIMO is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I'm using this as an opportunity to write a story about patient zero in the Lost Zombies mythology. When we were coming up with the idea for the site I had a notion of how the virus began. It's a story I've wanted to explore for a long time.

I plan to publish blog posts about…

Just a story...

No one expects they're gonna be a suicide bomber. Not in the beginning at least. It's a gradual process. It takes grooming. Killing is hard. I popped my cherry shooting a seven-year-old girl, execution style, in a grocery store. I barely remember it. When I think back now all I can recall is how the color of her brains matched the pink Hostess Snowballs she'd been carrying. David tells me I did the right thing, shooting that girl. He says I'm a hero. Maybe he's right. It's hard to tell…

Happy New Year everyone one. It’s been a crazy few months for us behind the scenes at Lost Zombies. I'd like to share with you some of the things we’ve been working on.
