A great day ruined part 2

As i entered the the door to pick up our food i saw the owner was acting scared and i asked if he had been robbed.He said no and asked if i had been watching the news.I told him all the news on tv was just a bunch of talking heads trying to spread the political agenda of the owners,and i never watched anything but the weather channel but he insisted that i watch his tv in the backroom by the kitchen.I walked to the back with him,when i looked around i saw all his staff huddled around a 19inch tv on a giant soy sauce barrel.CNN was reporting that a mutated hyper-strain of rabies was suspected of causing all the attacks in africa and that new cases were being discovered all over the world.The screen showed a video shot by an amateur reporter from Hunan province in china it showed a pretty shaky image of soldiers in full riot gear escorting civilians into waiting trucks.Some of them were obviously hurt and had blood flowing from open wounds on their bodies when suddenly 3 of the people in the truck jumped on the nearest soldier and started to claw at his body and bite his face when 4 other soldiers treid to pull them off they were also attacked.One of the smaller soldiers was wrestling with a younger guy when the soldier fell backwards the civilian jumped on his chest and took a big chunk out of his neck.The first arterial spray of blood looked like it went 10 feet in the air,soldiers next to him were covered in his blood and panicked.All it took was one shot to set of a chain reaction from the other soldiers who started firing their ak-47s into the group of civilians who were now running for safety,but strangely some turned and started attacking the soldiers oblivious to the 7.62 rounds slamming into them.The cameraman was screaming something in chinese seven or eight seconds later the firing along with his screaming stopped.At least 50 bodies were on the street including several children,when someone in charge saw the cameraman they pointed in his direction and he was cut down by a wall of lead.The last image caught by the camera was of one of the bodies crawling on the street biting a soldiers calf and the barrel of his gun coming down on his head and the expolsion of blood and brains before the screen went black. The talking head on the screen apoligized for the graphic nature of the image saying it was important world news and that similar reports were coming in from diffrent spots around the world including Sonora Mexico,Lima Peru,and Brussels Belgium. BEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP the sound of the smoke alarm in the kitchen made some of the waitresses jump and the rest of his staff started to get back to work.I told Qwan Lee i had to go my food was getting cold and not to worry about something halfway around the world,that it was probably just the media trying to get ratings.He asked how i could not be scared i asked if he remembered Y2k and how the media tried to convince everyone that on midnight december 31 the world was going to fall into a new dark age,i asked him if he remembered the avian flu and how they said millions would die but here we still were going to work and eating at his restaurant.That seemed to calm him down,he thanked me as i walked to the front of his place and paid for the food.Jose dug into one of my eggrolls as soon as i got in the truck,we waited another few minutes and Yuri hopped in with his usual double hamburger no cheese with extra mayo and pickles.We pulled out of the lot with Cypress Hill rapping about wanting to get high, and that reminded me to stop at Natasha's apartment after work today get stock up on her freshest Norhtern Lights#5 and whatever new strain she had thought up.Her prices were high but totally worth it,besides i had just paid off the note on my tahoe and had an extra 700 dollars to spend every month. The caller id on my cell showed a picture of a fairy and i knew my boss wanted us to bring him his order of indian food from the storefront 2 blocks down from us,as i flipped open the cell i started to say we were on the way to get his lunch when he cut me off and said to haul ass back to the jobsite and forget his lunch.I knew my great day was shot to hell when i saw broken safety glass all over the sidewalk and a honda civic half in the building we had just finished.Apparently some old geezer had a heart attack and crashed into the window just minutes before,he told me the old man looked dead when the paramedics and firemen pulled him out of his car but was revived by the medics and put on a gurney when he suddenly started having some kind of seizure and started to fight the restraints on the gurney.Since the guy looked about 90 the paramedics loaded him into the back of the ambulance and started to hook up an iv and diffrent moniters on the old guy when he starded to cunvulse again the iv the paramedic was inserting into his arm flew out of his hand and landed perfectly straight in the top of his thigh and he started yelling at himself for being so careless.Paramedic #2 tells him to relax that the old guy probably didnt have any infectious diseases or he would probably be dead already considering how old he was.That was all he saw before he called me back to the site. While we watched the tow truck pull the little honda out of the window the boss told me to start to get some scrap lumber together to cover the broken window because the window company wouldnt be able to put in a new window until next week.As i looked at the space where the window had beeen it was at least 8 feet high and 25feet long i knew we didnt have enough scrap to cover the hole and told the boss as much.He snapped backed NO ONE GOES HOME UNTILL ITS FUCKING COVERED.He tosses me the company credit card and says to haul ass down to the lumber supplier and buy what i need and get back here as quick as possible.Four hours later Jose drives in the last screw with his cordless driver.The wall we put up is pretty solid, 2x6s nailed down with concrete nails and 1 inch plywood on the outside screwed on with 5inch screws.Yuri and Jose start to gather all the tools as i go tell the bossman that we have finished the wall.I look at the clock on the wall in his office and realize its near 5oclock ,quittin time.As he hands me my check he tells me to look inside, as i open it he tells me i deserve it and that next week i start as foreman,crap i thought to myself an extra 4dollars an hour was a big raise,I hope i dont have to take a drug test anytime soon. As i handed Jose And Yuri their checks and told them the news they both said it was about time.Yuri's cell rings and he quickly answers,his face is happy as he tells me its his brother calling from Bosnia.Me and Jose walk over to the truck to finally eat our cold lunch we hear Yuri's voice getting louder and louder.When he walks over to us he is not mad, rather he looks more worried.Que Pasa i ask him in spanish, my neice was killed this morning he tells us his brother had said there was some kind of riot in their hometown and she had been bitten on the hand and had died 5 hours later of the infection the doctors had said,but they wouldn't release the body because the government was afraid she had some new disease from the dogs he said, because he didn't know how to say rabies in spanish.I suddenly remembered the report on CNN early and told them both about it.Jose told us about a guy in his town who got rabies from a skunk and went crazy and killed his family before gettig shot by a neighbor.Yuri said he had to go home and tell his family,as we said our goodbyes i didnt realize i would have to kill one of these men and their entire family less than 48 hours later.....
