"This isn't happening, this isn't happening!" She screams as she jams whatever clothing she can into her duffle bag.
"Lucy come on!" Max screams over the alarm from the door of her room, his eyes and his rifle pointed at every doorway and shadow in the long concrete hallway. "They're fucking coming we have to get to the bunker NOW!"
"Oh God oh God forgive me!" She moans as she pulls a few choice photos from the top of her dresser.
"LUCY FOR FUCKS SAKE!" Max bellows as she grabs a few books and stuffs them in before grabing the rest of her gear and her hand gun.
"I'm sorry Max." She pleads as she runs after him, the mix of people screaming and the bleating of the alarms tearing through her like physical blows.
"Just come on!" He yells as they run down the grey brick hallway. The screams were getting closer as they reached the security doors. "You put in the code, I'll keep watch." Max said breathlessly, his eyes wild with terror and adrenaline.
"Seven, nine, three, eight, six." She said aloud as she punched in the numbers. The panel slid open and she leveled her face to the sensor for the retinal scan.
"Welcome Lucinda." A gentle sounding voice soothed artificially as the door popped open with the hiss.
"Thank fucking God." Max moaned as they hurried through.
Max closed the door behind them as Lucy punched in the second set of codes, "Four, two, nine, eight, SIX!" She finished with a victorious scream as the panel slid open and she placed her palm upon the sensor.
The same voice welcomed them once again as the bunker's door popped open. "Thank you God," Lucy prayed over and over as she and Max entered the room. She turned to close the door-
The splash of water was jarring and mercifully cold. She moaned in suprise and reprieve as she opened her swollen eyes to find the Lieutenant, or at least that's what she called herself, dropping the bucket before taking a seat across the table across the room. Lucy sighed and licked her lips as she stretched her body as best as she could while tied to the chair.
"Good moring Lucy." the Lieutenant greeted cooly as she opened her pad and removed the cover from her pen.
"Good morning Lieutenant." Lucy responded with a rasp, squinting her eyes as she tried to make out if there were other people in the shadows of the back of the room. Two shapes, most likely men from the height and width of them. Oh boy, an audience.
"Today Lucy, we are going to start again, and this time you are going to give us every detail you recall. Have I made myself clear?"
Lucy sighed and tried to relax back into the chair, this was going to be a long day. "Yes Lieutenant."
The Lieutenant smiled coldly. "Good girl. Now let's start with the basics, you name, and what was your job."
Lucy rolled her head on her neck and wondered vaugely how someone who was younger than you could call you a good girl, "Lucinda Marie Campbell. Registered Nurse."
"And where did you work Lucy?" The Lieutenant asked, writing down every thing she said, most likely in short hand, Lucy reasoned as she watched the pen scratch across the page. "Lucy?" The Lieutenant asked, regaining her attention. "Where did you work?"
"St. Michael's Hospital." Lucy said as she watched the pen continue to scratch the page, no doubt noting her observation of it's movements.
"And after that?" The Lieutenant asked coyly, as though she had not heard the answer dozens of times at this point.
Lucy smiled coyly in return. "Why Camp St. Theresa of course. That is where you found us isn't it?"
The Lieutenant raised an eyebrow. "I believe that I am the one asking the questions here Lucy."
"Of course, Lieutenant." Lucy groused before closing her eyes. The lights were harsh after a while.
"And how did you come to be employed by Camp St. Theresa?" The Lieutenant asked.
"I voluntered." Lucy responded simply, her head leaning againg the back of the chair.
"Could you elaborate on that please?" The Lieutenant asked simply as she contiued to write in her notebook.
Lucy leaned her head back further with a sigh as the memories poured over her mind.
