The day that Mexico fall
I remember like it was yesterday. It was in all the news, “Mutation of the Virus”“Las Vegas Zombie Outbreak” at the beginning sounds like a joke, but the time passes, and the news of the drug cartels war and the economy were not important anymore, it was all about the zombies.
Suddenly, the Mexican and Canadian border were chaotic. The Irony, lots of Americans trying to enter illegally to Mexico. There was no time for legal o illegal bullshit, Mexican Army try to keep up organizing the incoming “visitors” and putting them in provisional camps , but the people didn’t knew. The virus was already here. Los Cabos, Cancun, Acapulco, our most important tourist places fall first. Few days later, the first big City falls, Guadalajara.
No shows, no soap operas, no comedy, only news on the TV. Recommendations, updated status, interviews with some big shoot at the government, we are doing our best they said, well, that wasn’t enough. And then a report of the highways and the roads to get outside the big cities, big surprised, all saturated; stupid, stupid people said to myself while make my “Crisis Bag” as recommended on TV, they told you not to leave home.
Two days later the barks of my dog and the screams woke me up, look for the window of the apartment, car Crashes everywhere, people running in the streets being chased of those things, fire in the building one block away. Turn the TV on, no news, no radio, nothing. Turn the lights off, hold up to Rex and try to calm her down, mumbling at her ear while crying in silence, don’t bark, please don’t bark, they will hear us.
