Day 8

Woke up at 0600, without refrigeration most of the fruit has gone bad. Cheese and other perishables also are starting to spoil.

After morning chow I secured my hooch, then set out at 0700, planning to scout and raid a nearby Walgreens. Soon as I crossed Blue Jacket Park, two Infected were waiting for me. I gave each two rounds to the head with my MP-5.

My MP-5 is a .22 version, I find this caliber best to use on Campion infected because it has low recoil, and low noise. Also, it’s easy to carry in bulk, and can be found almost anywhere. I also carry either my 1911, or my Taurus 24-7, sometimes both. I use the heavier caliber .45 rounds to deal with stray dogs, that can sometimes be even more dangerous than the Infected.

I avoided the main road, in an attempt to stay away from the Winter Park Hospital, a Campion infested wreck. Winter Park High also seemed to be having a lot of activity, gunshots could be heard coming from the school.

From 1100 to 1200, I scouted out Walgreens from the roof of a house across the street. The activity from Winter Park Hospital down the street meant that I would have maybe 15 minutes to infiltrate and extract with the supplies.

When I entered Walgreens, it had already been looted for the electronics, beer, and cash. That’s not what I was after however.

Supplies found included:

Water, Juices, Lighters, Tums, Aspirin, Afrin, Pepto-Bismol, Tylenol, Band-aids, Athletic wraps, Icy hot, razors, body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, tooth paste, hand sanitizer, AA and AAA batteries, assorted candies, assorted chip bags, jerky, suntan lotion, and insect repellent.

I filled my pockets, travel pack, and raid bag. When I came out, I could hear a runner coming at me from around the corner, putting him down was a narrow escape. After him, two more infected runners followed. After that, I retreated into the suburbs, taking an alternative route back to my hooch.

Making sure not to leave any followers, I settled down on a rooftop for two hours, a half-mile away from my hooch to eliminate any threats.

Returned at 1630, great success today. However, I’m still in need of things. I'm going to have to:

1. Find a bigger, or possibly more locations to live in.

2. Gather more supplies before gangs start raiding for food and basic necessities.
