Alex finally came back from his supply run a few hours ago. The stores he went to aren't so far away, but he didn't elaborate on why he was gone so long, just told me to shut up and do what he said if I was interested in staying alive. No way will I be doing that; since he was gone so long, I was able to read that survival guide he left with me, and to piece together a few of the more suspect news stories and events into a coherent, though crazy, conclusion.

I can't believe I'm actually entertaining these thoughts, that somehow humans are reanimating (not "coming back to life," as Alex likes to correct me -- he explains that zombies don't have anything left over from the person they were except the physical form) and chowing down on other humans. But based on what I've been reading -- not to mention what I saw just half an hour ago, outside my window -- I'm rapidly accepting that there isn't another explanation.

I looked outside earlier and saw one of the creatures attacking a man, armed with a kitchen knife, who fought back pretty bravely; I wanted to go outside and help him, but Alex convinced me that we'd only die if we tried. I'm thinking he was right -- the man stabbed that thing a bunch of times, enough to leave any normal human writhing on the ground in pain, but it didn't seem to feel any of that. Eventually it got close enough to him to...

Well, I don't want to describe it, and chances are if you're reading this (and I'm not insane), you've seen that sort of thing too. I know it's going to show up again the next time I try to sleep.

...Who knows when that will be.

We're going to keep watch on the body, see if it reanimates, and if so, how long it takes. The guy's already dead, thank the gods -- I don't think I could sit here and watch him suffer that slowly and painfully. In the meantime, I'm going to see if I can't find and get a charge from my old camera; photographic evidence could only help this situation, once the armed forces get here and bail us out.
