Part 1
Well we definitely made it out of the stickiest situation of my life. Wow, where to start? Ok firstly our daring escape from the city...not 10 seconds had past since Brandon’s warning shout when I felt something whiz past my hear and saw the woman in front of me collapse with a resounding thud. It was this thud that brought me back to my senses. I quickly realized that Brandon had unleashed his longbow and was raining arrows upon the Undead (apparently he had been practicing at the local range in secret for months). With deadly accuracy he disposed of about 4 of the undead. We quickly retrieved the arrows from the still twitching bodies and high tailed it back to my car. Knowing that the interstate would be no good I elected to take a series of back roads in order to reach my house. Navigating my way out of the city was much trickier than I had expected and I nearly hit 2 or 3 abandoned cars while being startled by a random shambler who just so happened to cross paths with the front end of my car. To make a long story short we arrived at my house with just enough time to unload our stock and prepare for what was to come.
Part 2 (the dream)
If you have read my previous entries you will recall that I mentioned a dream that I had been having for quite some time. This dream was that of an all out zombie holocaust. The place that I was in was never distinctly defined in my dream but it always felt familiar. The dream continuously picked up where it had left off the previous night. Every night I dreaded the lull of my slumber for the span of an entire year, fearing what horrors I might have to endure in my dreamlike hell. Little did I know that I was only being prepared for something that most human minds cannot fathom..........but more about that later.
Part 3 (preparations)
As I mentioned in part one of this entry we had just enough time to get things in order. Brandon had a quiver of about 15 arrows and we had picked up enough food and water to last about 2 weeks. Luckily, at my house, I had just recently visited the grocery store and had stockpiled a great amount of food for no reason other than the fact that I was hungry when I went shopping (don’t you ever let anyone tell you that is a bad thing, you will thank me when the zombie apocalypse hits). Anyways, back to the point, on top of our food stores we also had an abundance of melee weapons at hand (did I mention I have studied martial arts extensively and am a sword fanatic?). With a stockpile of about 20 katanas 5 wakazashis 2 tantos and a random assortment of other goodies who could ask for more? Me of course! It was at the moment that we were boarding up the downstairs windows and doors that I realized that the most obvious stockpile of zombie dispensing weaponry was stashed in my dad’s barn (he is a freaking carpenter for christs sake!). Realizing how dumb I was I pried the first board off of my back door and bolted to the barn with Brandon covering me from the upstairs deck. Luckily the flesh eaters hadn’t made it out to such a rural area yet. It took me about three trips to grab all of the supplies that we needed from the barn (on the last trip I remembered my dad’s shotgun that had been sitting in there for about 3 years untouched). With all of the windows and doors boarded up we turned on the news and waited.....
