Ok, actually I started this blog because I was in this site for awhile now and was using the useful info i found here. So I'd like to give the community something i can give - a little basic knowledge on melee offence. Dont be mistaken - these simple lessons are for people who are least interested in melee and has little or none experience in it, yet they have a melee weapon(particulary machete), i wont teach any parrying, defense or counterattacking here, because they are not particulary useful against unarmed undead. I myself highly recommend melee as the last wall of defence. But if you will ever need to use melee to save your arse, these lessons might come in handy. This time I'll teach a bit about machete. Ok, i hope you got my point.
So let's go:
Lesson 1: Getting used to the weapon.
I dont recommend starting swinging aroung with a sharp machete - you might hurt yourself. Start by getting ahold of a plain simple stick of formidable weight(3 lbs or so). Swing it around a bit, get a grip. Do it faster and put more effort in it. You havent hit yourself yet? If not - good. Once you manage to swing around without fear of hiting yourself with a stick, try doing it with machete(be careful, start swinging slowly). Once you get used to it, continue on to the next lesson. Remember: use your blade as an extended hand.
Lesson 2: Stance and basic hit.
So you already can swing without the fear of choping your ear off. Now remember - the strength of the strike comes from legs. If you are right handed - stand with your left foot in front of you, if youre left handed - right foot. Get a grip of your blade's handle. Raise it, to perform a side-vertical chop-slash which would look like this "/". At the same time you are performing the slash do a strong and quite wide(hm...2ft or so) step forward with right foot(for right handed) or with left foot(for left handed). The step will drastically increase the power of the strike. Do this a few times. Practice on bumpkins, trees or zombie necks(jk) :)
That will be it for this time, if some soul here will find these lessons useful, please give me a feedback and I'll put in some more simple lessons.
