my experiance during the outbreak...

I was staying the night at my friend lexis house. Our friend Sam was with us.
When we awoke that next morning, we were rudely awoken by the dog constantly barking out the window. Lexi thinking nothing of it just yelled at the dog to shut the fuck up, and tried going back to sleep. Well her step dad woke up and walked over to the window where the dog was barking and took her by the collar, leading her to the garage. Where he opened the door, then the screen door, and nudged the dog out.
Knowing something was wrong the dog quickly rejected the ideal of her going out into the garage. Turning around in a frantic panic, Lexi's step dad closed the door on the dog and the dog jumped both paws hitting the metal frame of the door. Barking and whining. The dog backed off and circled the inside of the garage.
Lexi stood up and walked lazily towards the bathroom. Her mom still slept in the bed; she took note of that when her step dad slid the door open. Sam just tossed over sleeplessly rolling the covers around her like a giant cocoon.
I sat there, eyes heavy, from a rough night with Sam’s foot kicking me in the back every few twenty minutes. I thought to myself, “Damn… she is a heavy sleeper…” I sat there staring at a black T.V. and wrapped my blanket around my shoulders. It was my favorite blanket, my Stewie blanket. I wore red shorts with a white T-shirt.
Lexi appeared around the corner “You know you can turn on the T.V.”
“Naw… I’m fine.” I stated turning around looking at her. She walked shuffling her feet on the ground. When she got near Sam, she kicked her in the back waking her up. Sam shot up like some popup book.
“Owe… Lexi that hurt.” Sam stated rubbing her back and wincing in pain. So for revenge she slapped Lexi’s leg. Then Lexi fell on top of her with her knees and slid off. Laughing, Lexi reached for the remote and kicked on the T.V. She flipped through the channels, getting ticked off at the channels because she noticed that the same thing was on all the channels, even the ones that were supposed to have cartoons on early on Sunday mornings.
Yes were about seventeen, eighteen years old and we still watch cartoons on Sunday mornings. So, Lexi frustrated with the T.V. left it on the one channel, which was news… thinking that it was something on the war in Iraq, we thought nothing of it and walked into the kitchen sat down at the table. Gasaping with one another about the days we move out and are free from our evil parents grasp when we heard a gasp in the living room.
Her mom stood frozen with a hand over her mouth, in the middle of the living room. Lexi, Sam, and Me walk into the living room to see what was wrong. We stood and watched the T.V. Realizing that it wasn’t the war in Iraq, it was a war that was happening outside of our own homes, in the streets, in the front lawns, and in the backs. The T.V. reporter was frantic, “Lock windows and doors, stay inside this is a state emergency… the National Guard, and army have already started barricading towns and cities. I repeat stay inside, if there are any and I repeat any people that look suspicious outside do not and I repeat do not let them inside your home!” They switched just then to a T.V. crew outside, the man that was reporting was standing on a balcony looking down, “Oh my god…” he mumbled. “People have gone crazy, and just started eating people.” Just then a loud bang was heard behind the reporter. He turned and the camera man turned as well and all we saw was a man hissing half crouched and dashing at them with open hands, he was followed by three more half dead looking creatures. The man got to him first sinking his teeth deep into his neck blood gashing everywhere, the camera man stood still frozen with fear. He screams and the screaming of his partner was all that we heard when the camera had dropped over the balcony and shattered on the concrete below.
Lexi looks at me with fear in her eyes, “I knew this day would come…” she said softly.
“What are you talking about Lexi?” I asked confused.
“The zombies… I was laughed at for being down right scared of zombies and now… now look what happened…” Lexi stated shakily. Her step dad looked out the window and noticed that the neighbors were running from one another screaming and crying.
A face slammed into the window making her step dad jump back with a raised fist. Lexi and Sam screamed. I jumped back and almost tripped over my bag. The face backed away smearing blood over the window. Her step dad inches back towards the window, looking down trying to see the victim that was covered in blood. Then the window shatters and her step dad is dragged out of the house, cutting and bleeding over the pieces of glass that cut through his body like butter.
Her mom screams and dashes towards the window trying to help her husband. Lexi and Sam dash towards the kitchen crying. Another one of those things pull her mom out of the window as well. I dash into the kitchen and start pulling out drowers searching for a kitchen knife or something to arm myself with. Sam and Lexi both were wielding butcher knifes.
“We need to get out of here… your house isn’t safe…anymore, and your parents are dead.” I said nervously.
“Yeah…they would of wanted it that way…” Lexi stated moving to a key hook that hung over the kitchen sink, she slide the key ring off the hook and took the key in her hand. All three of us moved to the garage. Luckily her parents decided to keep the car in the garage that night. We opened the doors letting her German shepherd inside with us.
Sam was in the passenger seat, Lexi was driving, and I was in the back seat with her dog. She jammed the key in the ignition and put the car in reverse, slamming her leg on the gas she ripped through the garage door, and backed right into a person that was dashing through her drive way.
Once she reached the street she put the car in drive and floored it, with the creatures dashing at the car. One of the creatures had jumped on the back of the trunk and she swerved trying to get the monster off her car. It stood on its feet, standing up, she hit the brakes and it flew over the hood and on the pavement in front of her. She floored the gas and ran it over.
“Lexi… we have to find my brother… and Sam’s family…” I said nervously.
“Yeah I know… but my family is dead now! What makes you think yours isn’t!” she snapped and started crying. We cleared the neighborhood, and reached the highway, in silence. After a while Sam had decided to flip on the radio... we heard a chopper come alive in the background of a mans voice, telling viewers of his discovery/report....
"The virus is a flu based virus, people are lining up getting vacinated, also a large crowd has started around the hospital, trying to get the vaccination of the flu... there has been reports of aggressive behavior down there, and that a large amount of the people down there were attacked, or injured. The symptoms are that of a flu, vomiting, loss of appitite, fever, and stomach achs and pains. The rumors have been answered, that the reanimation of deseaced has been in fact a rumor...." The reporter pauses... "oh god... they just started firing into the crowd... this has been just asigned unregistered air space, we have to pull out ..." After that there is static... and Lexi shuts off the radio.
We drive a few more miles, we past deserted cars, and bikes, tipped over trucks, and semi's. We slow down as we try reaching a gas station. "Fucking parents... didn't fill it up all the way!" she mumbles as she stops the car and hits the edge of the steering wheel. I sit in the back... in silence, not wanting to interupt, her cussing at her some what dead parents now... it was her way of showing how much she cared for them... I took a glance at Sam, not knowing how she was holding up during all this. She sat there in the passenger seat clutching the knife... her knuckles turning white.
"Sam... its ok... you can ease up now..." I stated softly trying to put a hand to her shoulder. Surprised by her reaction she drops the knife and throws her hands to her face, hidding the tears, to her just realizing that she too might have lost her family... I look down at the floor of the car, and wonder too if my family is alright and where they are at...
"Guys...We might have to steal a car.. or run on foot..." Stated Lexi turning to face me. Her eyes wide. "All this shit... is prepaid... were not gonna get anything unless one of us goes in there and pushes alot of fuckin buttons to activate the pump..."
I sighed and realized that we are just armed with knifes... Whats a kinfe going to do to a zombie, or a hord of them at that... we need fire arms and bad... I thought to my self while Lexi sat there her hands back on the steering wheel. Sam had just stopped crying and whipped away her tears with one of her sleeves. and spoke softly "I'll do it..." as she suggested she moved her hand to the door handle...
I had to say something, Do something... "I'll do it!" I yelled. Opening the door faster and quicker than i have ever done in all of my 17 years. I dashed towards the door. I looked in side real fast glancing around to see if there was anymore of them ... "things" in here... I heard Lexi's door slam, I jumped. And paused ... good no screams, i hurried towards the cashiers spot... and start to see how things worked... I pushed all the buttons, and found one that had started the pump.
Lexi opened up the gas tank while I was inside, She slid off the gas cap, slamming the pump into the gas tank, jumping back into the car. I had no idea what i was doing still inside, i should have ran back to the car but i didn't. I stood inside that gas station for what seemed like eternity, and i heard a shuffle in the back, i turned and saw a blood covered man with a glazed look over his face.
I slid out the kitchen knife, and stepped out of the counter, moving slowly towards the door. The zombie then hissed, throwing him self into a croutched position, more like the Jerassic park valoseraptors, Knowing that... I turned facing the glass of the door, and dashed out Running as fast as i could towards Lexi's car. I could hear the dog bark, also the screams of my friends as they saw me run. fallowing close behind the creature from our nightmares. I hurried and slid to the car, my foot almost getting cought under the car, i swang the door open and slammed it shut, catching the creatures fingers in the car. I and the dog moved towards the other side of the car, Clutching the knife in one hand and trying to hold my self up with the other, i slammed my foot hard against the opening door.
"Lexi floor it!" I screammed, the door hit the zombie hard in the face forcing it to stummble back then i quickly sat up and ladged the door and closed it. I quickly started feeling sick to my stomach, knowing how close i was to death... too close than I would have liked to be.... lexi floored the car leaving the man behind, and also ripping the pump along with us... we have to sit somewhere else now... we are currently hidding away, in an appandian house... with the doors and windows boarded up, it took a day to find, from when we first started running. We have yet to come accross any survivors... we are hoping that we aren't the only ones left... we aren't that armed... we stumpled across a handgun that was covered in blood in the center of the living room that we had entered... We boarded it up so good so far... no creatures this way... yet... i will update more when I have had some rest... good night and i will hopefully see you in the morning or late tomorrow... good night to all...
