Over the next few weeks I took advantage of the visits to the medical wing to learn as much as I could. Everytime I went up there I would bring doughnuts and coffee and be as friendly as I could. As started to earn their trust I became more and more brave ( or stupid) and started to pay more attention to the techs and their computers. I over heard a conversation where they were trying to find a specific virus strand, they said it looked like the virus Ebola (ebola hemorrhagic fever) but it attacked the brain and not the intestinal tract. And nothing that they have tried would touch it. As my x-rays and exams kept coming up negative I was being seen less and less. I started to panic because I was not finding out anything substantial. On the day that was to be my last visit I really took a chance, I saw some people picking up biohazard bags and loading them into a big cart. I grabbed 2 of the techs note books and put them into a biohazard bag and put them into a another pile of bags a short distance away from me. Since we do not have an incinerator at the facility these bags had to be place downstairs on the medical loading dock. I asked the WHO Doctor if his was finished with me, he just gave me a nod and I left. As I was walking down to the check point two of the WHO security men came running up to me shouting for me to STOP!! I did and tuned around with the most inocent face I could manage. I was searched and then ecorted back to the medical department. I was put into a room and told to wait, One of the security guys stood in the door way just staring at me. A man came into the room wearing a 3 piece suit, odd he wore no name badge or medical coat. He had the security men strip search me down to my underwear. The one said " He has nothing". I asked if there was a problem, then man in the suit just looked at me and said "Get him out of here". As I exited the room I was the two techs whos books I took freaking out, yelling that they had just left the research books on their desks when they took their breaks. Others were running around going through trash cans looking in boxes and cabinets tearing the place apart. I was promptly escorted out of the medical wing to the checkpoint and told not to return unless called. I waited a few hours and when I had a chance to take another break I sneeked outside and had my buddy who was driving the perimeter truck let me into the medical gate. Sure enough there was the cart on the dock. I put on my leather gloves and gingerly started feeling the bags. I took about 5 minutes to find the right bag. My buddy was getting nervious and kept telling me to hurry up. I tore open the bag and hid the bag in an opening in the wall, I pushed the bag in as far as I could so it could not be seen unless you were searching for it. I then went straight for my truck in the parking lot and hid the books in my tool box in the back. I returned to my post and finished out my shift. I know I was followed home that night. They sat in the dark across the street and watched my house for several hours. I left the books in my tool box for several days before I tried to retrieve them, making sure that no one was still watching me.... TBC
