a black cloaked figure walks amongst the ruins of what was once a great city. screams can be heard from all around, gunshots and explosions off into the distance. people were roaming the streets frantically. you couldn't tell the mutated from the living. it had started a few weeks beforehand. outbreaks in small tribes in Africa, people getting sick and then flat lining, but the most unimaginable thing had taken place. the outbreaks spread through the middle east and into Russia and the united kingdom. when the outbreak hit the states, the media tried to cover it up, but word got out on the internet. videos of the dead coming back to life, craving ravenously the flesh of their once brethren. smoke covered the almost abandoned town. a strong gust of wind blows through the city, clearing the smoke and removing the hood on the cloaked figure. a tall average man stood underneath the cloak. icy blue eyes that could pierce ones soul with just a glance, shaggy black hair and goggles around his neck. a stern faced young man no older than 23. it appeared as if he had seen a war, but even in a horrible situation there is always hope, even if its hopeless.
two weeks earlier:
{news broadcaster} the situation in africa begins to worsen as days go by, our sources tell us some kind of plague is claiming hundreds of victims. some doctors are speculating an epidemic of epic proportions.
jayden sat in his living room and listened to the news while smoking marijuana. his black baggy pants ruffled as he got up to look out of the window. people were packing their cars up with useless things. he knew what was to come, the impending doom that humanity faced. he proceeded with his daily routine.. meditation followed by the martial arts style training. the days until the outbreak reached America would not be many but few. he had felt the energies shifting. "the dark gods have summoned their spawn, an soon all will be on earth as it is in hell" he thought to himself. he put on his goggle and black cloak and headed into town. people around him in town were fighting over canned goods and other such necessities. he went to the local martial arts supply store. the owner greeted him with a smile. "jayden my boy where have you been? have you seen the news? what the flying fucking turbocunt is going on" the old man said irritated. "the usual" he replied from under the cloak. "you know i think you need more sun, and maybe a social life" the old man said caressing his beard. "fuck you old man, don't tell me how to live. if you want to know whats coming then look on the internet, now i would like my order." jayden said coldly scowling at the old man.
"excuse me son, but you know to respect your elders! but yes i might just have a look for myself on these interwebamajiggie thingie you said." the old man smiled at him, " your order will be ready in a moment so hold your horses." he went of into the backroom. the old man came out dragging a huge bag. " i dont know why you would need this stuff but oh well" he said as he handed the young man the bag. " oh, and i almost forgot, we also got the custom order you placed awhile back." he handed him a belt with a scythe blade on it. the young man took it out and extended the staff of the scythe. "nice work" he said with a grin. he proceeded to return home and to his routine. his unusual habbits.
two weeks later, the outbreak starts to hit American citizens and terror sweeps the states. new york was the starting point, and from there it swept through the nation.
as jayden left his house to head to the evac. center he knew he would not make it in time. as he walked through his once normal neighborhood, he saw the exact effects of the virus and what it truly was. "nothing but the minions of gods long dead and perished." he thought to himself. the dead had surrounded him. they were once his neighbors, but he knew that they were no longer who they really were. he pulled a odachi from the inside of his cloak, one slash and they existed no more. "it is probably better for them anyway" he thought simply.
this is the first installment. hope yall enjoy!
