Things are back to the way they were.
I popped on the news, and saw reports of rioting again. I guess it all started when some people raided the Walgreens several blocks down the way. There was a rumor started that a new pill was put out on to the market that was meant to combat the symptoms of the Campion Virus. They smashed up a bunch of the windows, and roughed up some of the employees in the pharmacy. Other people saw them, and took it as a chance to become a faceless looter.
I had my hopes, but I guess what they are saying is right ; we're really going down the tubes.
Mark, my dad's friend, shot a burglar who was trying to break into his neighbors car. He blew the guys head clean off. The cops didn't even seem surprised to find the guy the way he was. They just called in the ambulance, and took Mark's account, made sure his gun license was still valid, and left.
Mark is definitely a gun guy. God Bless America.
I went up into the attic today, and looked around for our old earthquake supply kit. It was a first aid kit with gauze, antiseptic, water, scissors, a kit for sowing stitches, bandages, and a blanket. Along side it were some plastic water bottles, that held about 5 gallons each. My dad had told me once that it was recommended to have 30 gallons of filtered water on hand for an emergency, so I took all the bottles down, and planned on getting them filled. There was a guy who had a reverse osmosis machine at his house, and he used to charge 14 cents per gallon to filter it. I used to go to him to get water for the office I used to temp at. I also pulled down all our old camping gear. Lots of sleeping bags, and army grade back packs. Even some old boy scout stuff that my dad and his brothers used as kids. I also found all our old tool kits as well. My dad is a pack rat, and he has amassed a stockpile of tools from when he worked construction. I pulled it all down, and set it in the living room.
I'm trying to reason with myself. I don't want to admit it, but I know that something is going to break loose. Things are going to get a lot worse, before they get better. You can never be too prepared.
I called up the water guy, and asked if I could come over. He didn't sound surprised. In fact, he said all kinds of people were calling up all of a sudden. He raised his price to 30 cents. Still dirt cheap. "You planning for a disaster?" he asked. "How did you know?" I chuckled. "Well, I reckon that once something goes down, we're all going to need supplies."
I guess I wasn't the only one getting a bad feeling.
I'm going to head to bed early tonight. Trying to normalize my sleep schedule after having been kept up in sleepless nights. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
