Its funny how things that seem so expected, so mundane before the infection hit can mean so much now. A hot meal, a warm bed, friends, laughter. While salvaging today, I came across a vending machine that was still intact. I broke it open and took all the Snickers, M&Ms, Reese's, and other candies I could carry. I took most of them home, but I did eat a few Reese's Peanutbutter Cups before I made it back to the Praire School.

I was never a huge fan of chocolate before the infection, but its funny how your opinion changes. It was amazing! Best thing Ive had to eat in months, the peanut butter with the chocolate, oh man, I loved it. Before the outbreak I would just go to town on my candy, but in this case I took my sweet time, savering every bite. I dont know when Im going to have chocolate again.

It was like Christmas when I got back to the school, it was great for moral. The children especially loved it, Thomas smiled and laughed, something I hadnt seen since we left for Walla Walla. After Walla Walla he had become very serious, way more serious then any 4-year-old child should be. I can see why though, he has seem more then anyone should ever see. Even at his young age he has suffered so much loss and heartbreak it makes me want to cry just thinking about it.
