January: The winter of 2007 was just as any other in the years before. I was even more excited than anyone else in the family, I would finally be done with high school and move to Las Vegas to start dream of becoming a teacher. However, before I could do that, I would have to pass my English AP class (which I was failing at).

My younger brother (Jonah) and I spent Christmas with our mom and step-dad in Las Vegas, NV. Man, all I have to say it was cold! It didn't snow. On New Years, both of my brothers (Matthew and Jonah), our dad and step-mom, and I all went to Carson City, NV to visit our grandparents. We had a blast snowboarding, skiing, and ice skating. Of course, all good things must come to an end...but I would have never taken that literally if it wasn't for the events that were to occur.

February: All over the news, there were stories about the flu and how bad it was. I didn't take it as something of great importance; I was trying to finish high school, I didn't care about some "flu" that hit America. This happens every year, the media causes some health scare which people over react to.

March: 2 weeks before Jonah's 14th birthday, the media dubbed the flu that was going around "The Super Flu." Many of my peers that had any sign of the flu were sent home right away by this point. Several of the teachers at the school were also sent home if they felt ill. I remember this girl in my class that was failing took this opportunity to change her grade from an 'F' to a 'C' while we were waiting for the sub to show up. If I recall correctly, all my classes averaged around 15 kids (give or take) of a norm of 34. Although no one in my family had it, several of my friends did.

April: It was at this time the media reported that The Super Flu was a pandemic. The schools in the district forced us to all wear masks, wash our hands every chance that we get, wash down our desks, and every other crazy germaphobe would do. My friends that caught this flu (and their families) were asked to stay within their households to quarantine the disease, while the faithful went to deliver their food and water. I could tell you that all the churches in town were full each and every Sunday; I think it was the Sunday before the 1st of May held 43 baptisms. It was around this time my family stopped watching TV, and relied on the internet.

May: The high schools decided to skip all finals and senior activities, and have graduation early. There was a huge controversy over this, but the school board finally confessed that they did this so that those with the flu could seek treatment and it was cheaper for the school district to do this than keep the schools open during this pandemic.

June: Despite all that was going on, I still made the decision to move to Las Vegas. I moved to a condo that my grandmother owned as a "Vacation House." At this point in time, I was still in contact with my friends that had the flu; 4 of them (Violet, Madhukar, Stella, Bill) were able to get passports for Camp St. Teresa. I haven't heard from them since. I also found out that 2 of my friends (twins: Ezra and Ophelia) that caught the disease just days before I left, died. I also found out that my eldest brother, Matt, went missing.

July: My grandparents in Carson City were infected and died days of each other. My closest friend since 4th grade (Yulia) contacted me stating that as of July 15th, she was an orphan with no living relatives left.

August: I spent my 18th birthday with my mom and step-dad (who lived 15 min. away from me). We spent it was 'normal' as we can. I also started college during this time. Only 6 people showed up to my first class, which happened to be the most in any of my classes for the day.

September: Classes at the college were cancelled and we were given a full and complete refund. I also temporarily moved in with my mom and step-dad. From the 8th on we kept in daily contact with our relatives since the media got hold of that 911 call. Matthew is still missing, and is already thought of as dead. I kept in contact with any of my friends that weren't sent to any of the camps, and found it to be useless. I found out from my younger brother that my family moved in with my step-mom's family, with only a few of my cousins, aunts and uncles were still alive and not infected.

October: I received a texted message from an internet friend of mine from Canada which read "come to the Wired (the forum in which he mods)." On the game forum site, Raven767 posted a message that read "How to Survive a Zombie Attack." We all thought he was kidding, just to keep things in a positive light, until we stopped receiving messages from him with the last one saying "goodbye." October 21, 2007 was the last Sunday I went to church, and started to make, steal, and buy weapons, food, water, and anything else I might need. On Halloween, I attempted to go back to California to, bring back whatever family I can find, but there was a road block set up right before Barstow telling us to go back. Meanwhile, my step-brother, who is in the military, came to our parent's condo and told them to come with him. The only reason why I knew this was because my step-brother wrote a generic message which read: "We'll take care of them. Take what you wish. May God have mercy on your soul. -TSgt. Williams."

On November 1st, 2007, I spent the whole day preparing for the worst. I spent the whole night praying for God to save mankind...I became Atheist the next morning.
