Journal Entry 1

It's unbelievable. I didn't believe the news broadcasts at first. Bodies reanimating and attacking the living. Viral outbreaks. Who would believe that? I saw the first broadcasts just days ago. It's spreading so fast. It's scary. I've already started gathering supplies and getting ready to go on the road. Collect my family and loved ones on the way. My family has a 210 acre farm not far from here and I plan on making that our safe haven. Set up a compound there. It's safe and familiar and well supplied. I've phoned a head and they are making the necessary changes to make it safer. They've started putting up double lined steel fences reinforcing them with wooden beams and lacing the tops with barbed wire and razor wire around the main areas. The house, garages, and the barn closet to the house. They should be done within the week and there haven't been any attacks or outbreaks there so as of now we have the time. We've always raised our own livestock so they are bringing the cattle, pigs, chickens, and goats down to the barn situated closest to the house and the chicken coup is just outback. They have already stocked the smaller garage and separate outbuildings with food and other necessary supplies. I come from a family of hunters and they filled up our six freezers this year with venison, wild turkey, quail and numerous other wild game. I feel very lucky to come from the family I do. We're probably more prepared than most in this situation. My uncle has always had a fondness of government conspiracies so we have a bomb shelter and plenty of weaponry as well as other supplies. I grew up hunting with my male cousins, uncles, grandpa and dad. We have a stocked fish pond out behind the barn as well so I think making this our safe haven is the best thing to do. Now all I need to do is make it safely to my other family members and a few friends. Jeremy and Sue are the two I'm worried most about. They have been my best friends since high school. I'm more worried about Sue. She's terrified of Zombies. That's her biggest fear. She won't know what to do. I just hope I make it to her before anything bad befalls her. Joking in the years we've known one another I always told her that if a Zombie apocalypse ever happened I'd come for her. Who knew I'd ever really have to? It's so unreal I still can't believe it. I have to fight through the shock until I know everyone I love is as safe as I can possibly make them. I've always kept a daily journal and though I may not be able to keep a daily tab on my happenings now, I will still keep a journal to document everything that is going on. I'm getting ready to set out now everything is in order. I'm taking my mother and my brother Seth with me. Hopefully this will not be my last entry.
