Leaving Wal-Mart Part Eight of The Apocalypse

Early the next morning, we left the other survivors and headed out of the Wal-Mart. Audrey felt bad about leaving them. Both Bill and I knew that we wouldn’t last long at all in there. We headed into a small forest behind the store, and that led us into a thicker forest. We could hear the sounds of the survivors in Wal-Mart screaming. We walked all day, and finally, the sun started to set. We set up a small camp site, and started to make a fire. Audrey was asleep and Bill and I were talking, when we saw the outline of a figure walking, slowly toward our camp site.
“Audrey,” said Bill, nudging her awake.
“What?”
“Get up,” I said, handing her the wooden stake.
“Wait,” said the figure, as it stepped into the fire-light. It was a man, and he was pressing a blood soaked cloth to his wrist.
“Shit,” said Bill, raising the golf club. Just then, the man fell to the ground, writhing and squirming.
“What’s he doing?” asked Audrey.
“I don’t know,” I said.
And just like it started, the man stopped, dead.
“Great,” said Bill, “He’s dead.” Bill was walking forward, and the man’s eyes opened suddenly. He jumped up and bit Bill on the neck. Bill screamed with pain and I ran forward and killed the zombie.
“Ah, shit,” I said lowering Bill to the ground. Audrey was sitting by the fire, crying. I don’t think she could believe what was happening. Then again, neither could I. Finally, after half-an-hour of struggling for life, Bill died.
