The sun blazed with much heat as a small breeze cooled its trails. The light blue sky was empty of clouds. The date was June 14; a birthday. No doubt it was HER birthday. She just turned eighteen. This newly adult was known as quite weird. She barely had friends, and the ones she had were all male. Her conversations were not of shopping, shoes, makeup, or anything else known as girly; but about guns, blades, cars, video games, and everything else a guy’s would. A full blown out tomboy, she was. The young lass could not deny she didn’t enjoy the mall or shopping but the stores and her likings were quite… different.
Light blue skinny jeans hugged her lower portioned body as a black corset top covered the upper. The top was not quite agreeing with her breast but oh well… It was going to be fine. Her original high top converse led her throughout the giant location. Her first stop was ‘Borders’. The old side pack that followed her closely, held everything she bought there and from her second location: ‘Spencers’. The last stop was the most important and most favored of all the possible stops in the mall: ‘HOT TOPIC’. Right off the bat, she saw items she wanted. She picked out a few things and went into the small dressing room. Everything she picked out was a perfect fit on her: three different outfits and the accessories to match. Upon walking out of the dressing room, her attention soared over to the clerk. A customer just arrived at the desk but something seemed off. The mall went quiet except the music played in the store.
“Hello! Welcome to Hot Topic. Is there anything I can help you with?” The clerk paused waiting for a reply. The customer figure began to moan and groan. It started off low then got louder as his body just swayed side to side. “Umm… Sir?” Right at that moment, the figure gave a loud roar. He jumped across the check out desk straight towards the clerk.
The girl froze with fear and stared as it ate the clerk alive. She gasped and quickly stuffed the items into her messenger bag, when she snapped out of the grunge trance. Without hesitation she ran past the shrieks of sorrow. As she exited, cries and screams echoed from all directions. Her hands shot to her head to cover her ears, as her body slowly fell against the cold concrete floor. It was piercing and somehow hurtful to her for unknown reasons. Her blue eyes scanned the area, while looking over the many attacks. Her eyes widened as she looked right in front of her. The store was amazing and very useful just for this moment in time. The locked binds on her legs broke with her just pushing off the ground, with force of a pouncing lion. It made her look like she had flown from one store entrance to the other. Swords and knives covered the walls in this particular store: ‘Oriental Trends’.
She leaped over the counter and grabbed a few knives then stuck them into her bag. She also grabbed a katana and a battle axe. When she was ready to leave her eye caught a dual blade. The blades went into a sheath that was built into the handles of the swords. She put it together properly and put it in the bag. With the medium sized Katana in one hand and the axe in the other, she headed out of the store. The echoes trailed into her head once again. Ignoring it, she headed for one of the many exits out of the mall.
Few of those maniacs began to run after her like she was fresh meat. “Maybe that’s all I am to these… things… Oh god!” She grasped harder on the handles. As they came closer, she slashed the sword and as a double hit when her body came back around with the axe. She quickly moved her body ready for another. This time she slashed the two weapons at the same time against and through the neckline. She ran for the exit as fast as she could while swinging at the moving targets that lunged for her.
When it came to her destination, she hurried to open the emergency door and… “Of course the alarm would sound”. Group sof people were being attacked or just moving around for their… food. Without stopping, she ran for her car. It was the only cherry red ’69 corvette in the parking lot. It was a miracle that it was parked closest to the entrance of the mall. Fondling with the keys, she continued her fight for her freedom. Arriving at her vehicle, she quickly unlocked the door and hopped in, locking it almost automatically. Tossing her bag in the back seat, the girl started up the ignition and pulled out. She sped off running over anything that was in her way: sane or not.
“What were those creatures? They looked human… Were they?” Her mind clouded as she drove. “They were real. So what exactly were they? Wait… Were they EATING those people, they attacked? Those people… THINGS… they acted like hungry wolves tearing away at the flesh and meat of their prey. What is going on…” Her conversation with herself trailed off. Her hand reached for the radio. She turn it on.
Havoc escalated. The radio station was full of screams, groans, and destructive sounds. She could hear the gruesome mess. After what she just saw, images of the things ripping apart the humanly flesh with their teeth then slurping up the blood, overloaded her mind. With no cars coming at her from either direction, she slammed on her break, unlocked, and threw the door open. Her gut couldn’t handle it anymore. She threw up right there beside her car. She had handled gothic and gore movies and video games but it was SO much different in real life. The radio continued until it finally went off air. She wiped way her mouth then closed the door, locking it instantly. She leaned over to the glove box and got out her hand sanitizer. When she was done with it she put it back, and turned off the radio. It was going to be a quiet ride back to the house. She cracked the window a bit for some fresh air then drove off.
Home couldn’t possibly be as bad as this.

I know I know... I try... I was also dealing with people trying to put them selves in the later part of the story and so on... People even tried to change the places. this is actually based in Portland Oregon. Others are trying to say California.
But I'm so used to writing fantasy stories and stuff... Not really used to the whole Horror yet. ^^"

Can I say one thing. You could probibly use more devices when you write and try and stay out of the omniscient view. It kind of takes away from the horror.

I love it! It's hard for me to find a story I can immerse myself in, but this is definitely one that I can feel. The small details really make it easy to visualize what's happening. I can't wait to see what comes next!
