Apocalypse Journal Entry #503 (Final)

Dr. Dimitri Tanner Matthews 05/28/98-08/27/19:21 years old.

I knew today would be my last. Right now I'm on a medivac to a military outpost. The war is over, they tell me. Fuckers, they lie. They know it's only the fucking beginning. They know I'm gonna die, so they want me to die happy, I'm not stupid. I guess it all went wrong when Mark died. A group is only as good as it's weakest link. After he died, everyone else got hurt. Physically, and mentally. I want to say it's my fault. But It is in some way. Then after the incident, people kept dying off. It was just me and Scarlett left. What a bitch. Even though I loved that bitch. We had lost most of our supplies in a hurricane. With only a day's worth left of food, me and Scarlett were only 2 days away from the military outpost. We had left our guns behind long ago. Perhaps when Chris killed Alex, or at least right afterwards. With my machete, her crowbar, and our radio, we had manged to make it all the way to Maine. Parker, Maine is the outpost. We were in the middle of no where when she died. We set up camp in the desert at night, not thinking any infected would get us, and sure enough, they did. The first bit Scarlett, then she screamed. That woke me up, so I grabbed my machete and killed it. Three more then came. Me and and Scarlett did the honors. We started on the road again. We kept going until she collapsed under advanced infection. I killed her then. I sat there and cried for at least an hour. Then I got my shit together and headed put further. That's wehn I saw a red smoke grenade. I begin to study it. And thats when I heard the Zed. All Runners. I knew I was screwed. Thats when the bombs came down on me...
