Diary

I awoke early in the morning, to sound of rain, a little disoriented from the night before…..the night before…..and what a night it was. A group of 8 including myself took shelter in an abandoned police station house on the outskirts of Aberdeen MD, my hometown.
Since the outbreak started, military personnel and local police had kept the undead at bay for some time. Eventually the outbreak became too much for the locals to handle, thus making my hometown a playground for the undead.
At first it looked as though we could walk right in, however there was a pad lock on the door, so that made things a little difficult, I certainly did not want to make any unnecessary noises to attract the undead. So I used my crow bar to pry open the door. Once we got inside we found a medical kit and I ordered Tim to tend to the wounded. Minor injuries were sustained by my company, but Haley a young girl that was with us seemed a little more distraught from the rest, was it that she was scared absolutely out of her mind? The fact that all she ever known was going to be destroyed? Or even both. Being that I am a natural leader, in all aspects of life. I go and tend to Haley. She couldn’t even get a word out she was trembling so terribly, her skin was cold and clammy, sweat was pouring out of her so profusely she could fill a gallon. Then I noticed it, the blood trickling from her ankle….i asked her to lift up her pant leg so I could see what it was, she grew angry and ran to the other end of the hallway and began to weep. At this point I could sense that something was out of place, so I came to her side and began to console her, eventually I talked her into showing me the wound. It was a bite from a zombie that was causing the bleeding, I asked her when it happened and she told me right before we got to the other end of town, we were ambushed by about 4 zombies, we took care of them very quickly, however she never spoke of the zombie that was separated at the torso. Apparently when she ran to get out of dodge, she stepped on it and it proceeded to feast on her ankle. At that moment I know that her time was going to come to an end…so did she. I tried everything in my power to keep her calm. She became very hostile to the point where she was screaming at the top of her lungs. I pleaded with her to keep her voice down, but I guess it’s only in our nature to act that way when we know we are going to die….in her case, undead. I explained to her that when she turned I was going to take her out, but she was to stubborn and wouldn’t accept her fate. She began to draw attention to the other survivors and they began to question what was going on. John a middle aged farmer knew right away what the case was…he immediately drew his weapon and fired on Haley, killing her instantly. An unfortunate but necessary sacrifice none the less. That’s when we heard a series of loud moans coming from across the field. Mary the receptionist looked out the window only to find a small clan of undead heading straight for us. In that moment I told everyone to gather any resources we could so we could get out of there. I ran to the other side of the hall to see if we had a clear escape, I was wrong there was a small clearing but with the zombies on the brink of getting to us we wouldn’t have enough time to get to the clearing. So I immediately began to board up the windows, doors, any kind of possible way for them to get in. it was there, we made our stand. For hours the zombies were trying to enter every way they could but we were able to use the resources we had to keep it under control. I found an opening that lead to the roof, and I went up there to start to clear the zombies from the doors so we can make our escape, once this was done we got everything we could use and left. As we were running to the opening we saw an even larger group of zombies in the distance. Do we go on? Or do we go back to the police barrack, and take shelter until we could regain our strength? So we went back to the barrack. There we took shifts until the morning came.
