A RUDE AWAKENING..

I woke to an ambulance siren whirring weakly outside my window, its lights flashing into my room, lighting the whole thing up. I wondered why it was stopped outside, and, after looking through my window, not able to see it over the wall outside, I went to investigate...

As I stepped outside the door I felt a great shiver up my spine and knew something was amiss... I walked around the wall of my house and, to my great surprise; the ambulance was turned completely on its side, the driver’s corpse torn to shreds and his throat almost completely torn out. I was as disgusted yet intrigued as to what was happening so I walked around to the back on the wrecked vehicle to search for possible survivors. I found a small defensive pistol in a slightly ajar compartment, knowing I’d need it I quickly pocketed it.

As I did the stretcher inside the ambulance shuffled, though I could see pools of blood seeping from it, it moved, with great force, struggling to get out of the body bag it was locked inside... I jumped in shock and quickly locked the door. Running back to my house I realized the light was stilly blaring into my house, knowing this would attract quite unwanted attention I hastily ran back to turn it off. As I reached over the driver to the lights button, his blood started to flow again and he lunged at me, his head hanging to the side due to the large tear in his throat though he still had all the energy of a person fresh after a good nights sleep.

I fell back in shock, nearly frozen in fear as the bloody mess of what was once a human moved in over me... I struggled for the pistol and managed to fire a couple of shots into him, they did nothing, seeming as if they were just fly, barely bothering the terrible entity at all... I scrambled around madly for something to defend myself...

The shattered windows of the ambulance scattered the ground I was on, it was piercing my hands but my adrenaline didn't let that bother me, I ripped a large chunk of it out of my hand, my blood squirting on my face, sending the beast into a frenzy, it dove towards me, stupidly, onto the piece of glass, cleanly piercing right through it's skull...

It limply fell beside me; I didn't take the time to check if it was dead and started to run back into the relative safety of my house. As I rounded the wrecked vehicle it grabbed my leg, still overpowering me after all I’d done to it and its previous wounds... I was astounded and had no other weapons, and no time to load the handgun... So I bought my boot smashing down onto its head... It splattered easily, I laughed "must've been a ripe one" I thought, wiping my bloody foot of the brain fragments on its tattered clothes.

As I ran back inside I figured it best to see if my friends were safe, but all communication seemed to be gone, I couldn't even get a damn ring tone on the phone...

I figured it best to gather weapons... Luckily my Dad, who was in another state on business, was quite the hunting enthusiast. I ran to my shed and gathered his rifles, hoping they'd still work, considering most of them were antiques...
