I guess you could call this 'Day 1'. But day one of what?!
Day one of my awakening to a whole different world.
I've heard the stories about those god damn Americans.
They had some sort of bug going around and it was spreading. I thought
it was all some sort of joke...
up until just a little while ago when my eyes were yanked open.
Since I have some time to kill [Ugh] and to calm down, let's start from the beginning.
School had ended and I was not going home. If I had my choice, I would never
return here. But some things are not up to me...
So, I decided to take my good ol', trusty ipod and walk to the park.
The day seemed to be so perfect. I should of taken in it while I could have.
Anyway, back to the story. A few good hours had passed of me just wandering
around, staring into the sky and what not like I do, listening to the heavy drumming of
Dimmu Borgir.
The perfect-ness of the day was soon swept away with the shrieking of sirens
passing by on the main road next to the park. Then there was the screeching of tires, as
the cars turned sharply around and headed back toward the park.
And that's where curiousity killed the cat.
For some stupid reason, my brain told me to go check it out. So I did.
I was not prepared for anything that I saw.
Sure, I read books on zombies, talked to my friends about that shit as well.
But it was never serious.
There was never a time I believed it could possibly be real.
Until that moment.
The police men were out of their cars, standing behind the doors for protection.
Their guns pointed straight ahead, but shook slightly. My eyes followed the guns stare.
There was two of them. From where I was standing, I could not see much of their features.
But something was different about them... something horrifying...
Yet, my feet stayed planted on the ground.
BANG. A shot to the head. Dead.
It fell to the ground, while the other let out the most scariest sound I have ever heard.
Suddenly, there were more shots.
Screaming. My eyes could not keep up.
But, the thing was still alive. And it was running toward the police men.
My skin tensed up. Something bad was going to happen... I needed to get out of there.
My feet were glued to the ground.
The thing launched itself toward a police man's neck. In a curtain of blood, I watched
the man get mauled while he screamed at the top of his lungs. Tears started to
form in my eyes. They weren't doing anything to help him.
They just stood and watched as this man was getting eaten alive
Right. In. Front. of Their. Eyes.
All I wanted was to run up there and save his poor soul,
but I knew better. Where I was... at the moment, was safe.
I watched for a few moments more.
Some of the police men moved in, firing randomly hoping to hit the beast.
Nothing seemed to work.
Even if there was a hit. The thing, person, zombie, whatever, moved onto
a different target, taking him down as well.
His body went everywhere....
It was one on one then. One cop, one zombie. He was aiming, I could tell.
But, not very well, because as soon as the shot was fired, the thing attacked.
I watched as they wrestled on the ground, completely dumbfounded and crying.
My mouth then dropped. As soon as it started to look good for the cop, the
creature took a chomp onto his throat, holding on tight.
A high-pitched scream came from my lungs. At least something was working now.
But, it wasn't the best idea... It's dead-like eyes were on me, filled with hunger.
I watched the blood trickle down its jaw.
Before I knew it, I was running up the hill as fast as I could, bawling my eyes out,
wanting to feel safe again. I was so confused, all I knew was I needed to be home.
I didn't stop. I ran through streets, down and up hills, and hopped a few barbed wire fence
until I was able to lock myself safely in my room.
So, that's where I am now. Sitting on my bed, holding myself- my sanity- together.
I've come up with a plan. If this is really that zombie outbreak, apocalypse, my friends
and I used to always discuss, then I am not going down without a fight.
My close friend has an uncle nearby who has stocked up on weapons for
the last thirty years. Tomorrow morning, I am heading over there and taking whatever
I can have.
Now I just have to wait.
I can't even imagine the nightmares I will have tonight...
if I can even get to sleep.
Hopefully this is not the last time I write.
Wish me luck.
