Hello again. More news for anyone who cares...

So the four of us slept as late as we could sleep on a roof, which isn't late at all. When we woke up, we sparingly ate some food and mentally prepped ourselves for the drive back to our house about a half hour away from the city. Before we opened the doors to get to the car, we checked the streets from the roof top. It looked safe enough (or as safe as it was gonna get) with the exception of maybe fifteen of those things in sight. So we ran downstairs and made it to my car in what felt like ten seconds flat. As soon as we shut the doors to the car, all of the things we could see started running towards us. I guess we drew their attention by shutting the doors too hard. So I started the car as fast as I could and floored it before any of them behind us could reach us. I must've run over at least five of them trying to get out of there. I didn't care. After about ten minutes of driving we reached the bridge. We crossed it again and made our way up the Palisades. On our way home, I called my best friend Craig to see how him and his family were holding up. It was good to hear his voice, even though I used to see him everyday. It felt like we haven't talked to or seen each other in years. He let me know that everyone in his house (him, his dad, brother, step-mom, step-sister and step-brother) were all alright. His house is considerably larger than ours, so he invited the four of us to stay at his house for the night. Of course, we accepted the offer. So we made our way to his house, unpacked all of our stuff and got comfortable.
We were there for a few hours before Craig and I got so bored, we decided to go for one of our joy rides through and around town. (This was something we always did before this whole catastrophe. I guess we just felt like going for a drive would keep some sense of normalcy in our lives.) We took his car and I brought my bat, just in case.
We decided to go to my house at the end of the drive. (We live pretty much down the street from each other, so it wasn't much of a big deal to go to my house for a bit. I wanted to grab all the booze from my mom's liquor cabinet.) So we pulled into the driveway. I wanted to check to see if my aunt was still on the floor in her living room, but she was no longer there, which made me extremely nervous to go upstairs. I told Craig I'd make this as quick as I could. So we ran up the back deck stairs, I grabbed the spare key and opened the door. I grabbed a plastic bag and put all the wine, rum, whiskey and gin we had into that bag. But right before we were about to leave, I heard those same horrifying sounds I heard at Radio City, but this time it sounded like they were coming from down the hall. Without even thinking, I checked to see what was going on and as soon as I stepped out of the kitchen and into the hallway, I saw my aunt making a b-line towards me. I froze and she tackled me and I fell to the floor with her on top of me. I tried wrestling her off of me but she was too strong. So I started yelling to Craig to grab my bat and hit her. He hesitated, but then beat her in the back of the head. It must've been a pretty hard blow, because the growling and muscling immediately stopped. I got up and just stood there, trying to comprehend what just happened. I felt like I was about to explode with tears, but I held them back as hard as I could. Craig snapped me out of my trance and reminded me that we had to get back because it was getting dark. But before we left, Craig and I dragged my aunt back downstairs to where she was when we left two days before. Once that was done, I grabbed the bag o' booze and we ran to the car.
About three minutes later, we were back at his house. My mom had asked me if my aunt was still there, and I just said yes, trying to act as normal as possible. I couldn't tell her that Craig had to bash her head in to save my life. I knew none of them would want to hear that, so Craig and I just kept that to ourselves.
Craig's dad told us we could stay there as long as we needed. It was nice of them to let us stay there, but my mom told them we would go back to our house tomorrow and do our best to survive there for the time being. My mom, brother and sister are sleeping in the basement, while I'm up here in Craig's room on an air mattress. It's getting late so I'll sign off. I'll try to write again tomorrow.
Goognight and good luck to everyone else out there.
