Resting on top of a Hummer tonight. Michael, Katie, and I have divided it up as evenly between us as possible. What a rescue, by the way. Straight outta the movies. We walked to her house and found the door caved in. We found Katie being assailed about twenty dead, including the corpse of her brother. They were pounding on the door of her bathroom. We came in, spade and bat in the air, and beat the living shit out of everything. We opened the door and found Katie sobbing in the corner. Poor girl. We stayed in the house for a couple of hours. Katie mourned for her dead brother. They were twins; I don't know if that makes it harder for her. I do know that they had been together since they had been born, though. And to have someone ripped away from you that you've known for so long just like that is hard. Real hard. We left and headed up the road towards Costco. When we got to the main road, we stopped and stared for a bit. Cars congested the roadway. Those who had died trying to escape were now trying to claw their way out of the cars. Some of the ones not wearing seatbelts were succeeding.
I turned to my friends and said, "I suggest we walk across the tops."
They both agreed to that.
We climbed on top of the first, an old, black Durango, and started off. Every two or three buildings had some sort of health hazard. Fire, open power lines, zombies. The dead that noticed us, we shot. Can't have them sounding an alarm. We had walked for hours. I don't feel like counting them off. We stopped on this yellow (why does everyone have yellow?) Hummer. Michael got tired. Can't have him lagging. He's the only "sniper." And here we are. Not much happening now. The occasional scream, a gun shot in the distance. Think I'll get some sleep...
