Today's tip: Get a dog.
Dogs have an uncanny ability to smell/sense the undead from great distances. They are the perfect early warning network for approaching zombies. With little training, they are also excellent hunting companions that can both warn you of nearby zombies and help put food on the table by seeking out tasty woodland creatures.

Thats great! My dogs herd well, but I discourage tackling for fear of infection. Instead, they bark to alert me when zombies are near. That being said, they are allowed to bite the hell out of uninfected living attackers that try to cause trouble. They also keep packs of hungry wild dogs away when they eye me like a can of Alpo.
