The front glass door was smashed in and the other front door was wide open… The sound of car alarm went off in the distance as I could smell the smoke of what seemed like a gas fire a few streets away. I noticed my families van in the driveway but not my Dad’s car. This thought concerned me, where they were and what really happened… I slowly walked to the front door and opened the screen slowly. I started to enter slowly when I saw my dog Two face run over to me and glance at me with a huge sigh. I have never seen an animal look so relived in my life. I walked up and stroked her head and continued to walk into my kitchen I closed the door behind me and locked it slowly. I cautiously walked forward through my kitchen into my dining room and living room. Nobody, everything looked the same as it has, nothing out of place and no windows broke accept the front glass door. I went over to the couch and grabbed the metal bat I kept underneath it. Call it old habits but like bond sometimes you have to keep a weapon underneath your pillow. I then decided to walk down hall way slowly passing the bathroom on the left, when I glanced inside I saw the stains of blood covering the sink. I continued to slowly tip toe down the hall way to the next room on the left hand side. This was a computer room, with door closed and the sound of moaning and clawing being muffled from behind the door. At least which it seemed…? I kicked open the door with some force to see nothing.
The room was completely the same as it was left months ago and the computer was still on, I noticed my I phone right where I left it on the desk months ago. When I was in the woods no reason for a cell phone, no service and with all the water and rain it would just get ruined. I turned it on to notice 500 text messages, I guess I have been missed, I took the phone and popped it into my pocket and left the computer room. The next room I entered was the laundry room; this was the last room besides a small hallway that went into my grandmother attached apartment. I walked into the hallway to the smell of rotting flesh and to the sound of animal loudly eating. Well at the time I thought was an animal, my dog was scared walking behind me as I slowly entered the room. It was my neighbor’s 23 year old daughter, scantly clad, and eating the face of my 92 year old grandmother.
As soon as I got to the center of the room she noticed me, she got off of my grandmother and started to lunge towards me. The smell of rotting flesh filled the room and blood covered her from head to toe. She was inches away from my body when I went into action. “Batter up” I said as I swung the metal bat right at her head…”Home run” as she flew backwards onto the table the remains my Grandmother was sitting next to. I grabbed my neighbor’s ankle and pulled the body down to the ground. With all my weigh I jumped up and went boot first onto the head knocked out girl. Her eyes oozed out of her head with what looked like blackish grey matter that smelt like the inside of rotting dumpster filled with year old eggs and rotting flesh. I then glanced up at my grandmother to realize she was still alive…
“I’m sorry” I said as I took the bat and slammed it into her skull. With one quick swing she was gone, juices splattered everywhere. I wiped what I hoped was blood off of my face and started to head out of my grandmothers apartment when my dog started to whimper towards me as the sound of moaning came from the other side of door, pounding and muffled moans came as my dog hid behind me. I started to move forward back into my laundry room closing the heavy door behind me. I locked the door and started to head back into the main house. With my bat in hand and my dog by my side I decided to look for the rest of my family. I started to head upstairs to my bed room, at the top of the stairs. I entered my bed room. Grabbing a bag and changing my shirt into something clean and darker, the first shirt I notice ironically was my LZ shirt. I tossed it on and threw some essentials in a bag. Compass, rope, change of socks and boxers, a knife, my essential survival, book and an empty water bottle. After grabbing the essentials I headed into my brothers and parents room.
Both areas were completely clear with no sign of struggle or blood or anything, just looked like it always looked. Kind of messy with that normal lived in charm. I headed back downstairs to the feeling that something wasn’t right. I looked outside the picture window to notice my neighbors coming over, But for some reason I don’t think they were coming over to borrow some sugar.
I went to the basement door and slowly opened it and started to head downstairs. My dog waited at the top of the stairs with a scared look on her face as I slowly descended step by step. When I hit the bottom I heard the sound of someone screaming in pain. Like an injury not like the other moans I have heard earlier today. I proceeded to slowly make my way into the other side of the basement directly underneath where I just dealt with my grandmother and neighbor.
It was my brother and mother, my mom was the one screaming in pain. My brother was trying to clean her wrist where she was bitten. “What happened?” I asked as my brother looked at me like he saw a ghost. “I thought you were dead, from the reports we heard”… “Heard what?” Interrupted as a crashing sound came from the basement windows, Crash something came down through the window and onto a table….
