Day light, the morning arrived, haven’t sleep since the chaos woke me up, didn’t knew what to do, they told you in the TV, and radio, to stay calm, not to panic, stay safe in home, but no radio nor TV today. HOW TO BE CALM IN THIS SITUATION!!! The fire in the building in the next block spread quickly in the near houses, no firefighters, less crashes in the streets, less screams of the people, but they were still screaming. Though I heard some random gun fire far away.
Take a quick look to the street, and see those monsters clearly, death walking, some of them on fire, and impressive as it sound, they keep walking like nothing, just consuming themselves.
Keep thinking what to do, what to do, I was really scared, feel like I was five again. Don’t knew what to do! I didn’t want to stay in the building if one of those things set it on fire, and didn’t want to have to leave the building when the power lines fail, I imagine myself taking the stairs without light. No, that wasn’t an option. The car was only 5 floors down in the garage, but the streets have lots of car, could I drive in that mess, and most important where to go.
Suddenly I remember my family, my father and mother, were they Ok?, it happened all so quickly that I didn’t think on them. Took my phone, dial the numbers, nothing happens. Only a stupid recorder from the Cellular company service, “El número que usted desea contactar se encuentra fuera del área de servicio, favor de llamar más tarde” Dammed, I got to go to Tabasco, at least there are rivers, fishes, food in trees, and most important my family, got to see if they are ok. The only problem, it’s too far away. Took my Crisis bag, which was a backpack with my born certificate (don’t know why would that help), two boxers, sockets, an extra pair of jeans, two polo type shirts, a hoodie, one bottle of water, and 5 cans of tuna fish, my cigarrets, my zippo and gasoline for it, camping knife in my belt. Took the leash of my lady pitbull called Rex, think to myself “F**K WHY don’t I have a gun”. Stood in front of the door like half our, Shit, don’t want to do this. Suddenly a bark, a hit, luckily I’m not a small man, because if not I would be on the ground, look back quickly and took my knife (think to myself “gotta pay attention, gotta be more fast”) see the teenager sun of the front neighbor with a small rubber bat and his older sister back. Shout at him Samuel what the fuck are you trying to do!! His eyes could not hide it, he was terrified. His sister the same.
Try to make a joke to release tension “Samuel, are you going to hit zombies whit a nerf bat, your father would be ashamed”. The sister is the first to say something “They are not here, they haven’t arrived. We heard noises and hope it was one of them, but saw you and you stood in front of the door, and thought you were a zombie.”
Little smile on my face, well, they are 15 and 19, they can figured out, grab Rexy and walk to the stairs door, he said, Don’t go, please. Wait till they are here. hug both of them I said, ok, we’ll stay one night, but then I think that I guess we all know the truth. They are not going to come back.
