The Seven Hour War.
As quickly as it started it was over in Seven Hours... We aptly named this 'The Seven Hour War.'
I remember when it started in the first hour of the attack... It was just out of the blue... No announcement, no warning, no nothing to prepare us for this endless siege.. People fighting, people dying, then reanimating.. It was like them cheesy zombie films, but this was real life...
Within the second hour.. People were hiding scared for their lives, trying to fend off the dead, barricading themselves into buildings... There were police officers out on the streets trying to get people to safe areas of the city that remained untouched, but were highly protected...
By the third hour, the city centre was a war zone, it had fallen to the hordes of undead, people still trapped inside building were pleading to be rescued, crying, screaming, literally terrified... Some people who had been bitten previously were aslo trapped inside these buildings had turned... Blood on windows, wall, doors... Windows and doors smashed from the inside by terrified people only to fall victim to the hungry hordes waiting for them.
By the fourth hour, the roads were blocked with vehicles of every shape and size, some on fire, some covered in blood, witnessing vehicles collide into each other, it like watching a live destruction derby, but with death and horror.. By now, not only were vehicles burning, a large area was ablaze from a vehicle crashing into a local petrol (gas/ filling) station causing an extremely powerful explosion, which rained wet fire, and setting the closest buildings, vehicles, people and undead on fire.
By the fifth hour, the building I was hiding in was almost breahed by the waiting hungry horde of undead, when more police turned up, with help from the local army base, and local gun enthusiasts came and started shooting the undead, they had a few casulties of their own, but had come to rescue us and give us some guns to protect ourselves with.. They were going building to building, helping survivors, or clearing them of the undead, as I left the building with other survivors, we looked around, and from the sheer destruction we were losing pretty fast, I had no idea how to use or let alone fire a gun.. So I just ran, and didn't look behind me.. I knew I was being followed by others, everyone knew we had lost the city, but we had to find the safe zones, that were helping people escape...
By the sixth hour, we had managed to make it to a number of fallen safe zones, we knew we had to escape soon or we would perish to the dead... Neither of the survivors wanted that, we head west to the only known safe zone that we knew were left standing... Off we set, running, dodging, and weaving... We had to get there fast, the dead were spreading, and spreading fast, just like a fire, everywhere we could look, there were either the dead, towers of black smoke, destruction, death and total chaos... We finally made it to the safe zone, we had lost a few survivors to the dead, but some of us made it, there was one Chinook Helicopter left, we ran towards the armed guards, they opened fire on us, thinking that we were the infected, I stopped and started jumping, and rolling around on the floor, doing stupid stuff to get their attention, and finally they stopped, I was the only person left standing, I slowly I lowered my gun, and put my hands up, then I lead on the floor, a female soldier came over and inspected me quickly... She pulled me up from the floor... Just in time as time infected showed up, I entered the Chinook with rest of the soldiers.. It took off in time....
By the Seventh Hour, we had lost everything we once had to the dead, the city was on fire, there was death, destruction, and devastion... We lost the war to the dead, in only seven hours too...
