As a survivor you may think your the lucky one, you lived through the initial shock of the apocalypse an your still alive today! Congrats!
I hope you had a better start than I did. This is my story
You see I had a pretty good life before this all started, I had a job, I was making good money, I went to school for something I loved. Hell I even had a fiance! Here I was 20 years old, I couldnt even drink legally yet! I had everything i ever wanted in my life at that current moment, I was truly a happy man.
Then it happened....
I was in the cafe with my soon to be wife, we were discussing our wedding plans, talking about who we wanted to be there and where and what the theme was gonna be, we were in a lovers argument over the location, she wanted a church, I wanted something non-traditional.
We were just to people madly in love and not having a care about the world, thats when it happened, I man was running down the street, wildly, he was being chased by another man who looked homeless, They ran down an ally and we never saw them again, truly at the time we thought nothing of it. We continued our day as normal. Later in the afternoon we made it back to our little one room apartment we called home, was nothing special just something to get us by as we looked for a place to truly call our own. I made dinner, we watched a movie, we had sex, and then we went to sleep.
The next morning we awoke to a loud scream to what sounded like it was right outside our door. My fiance visibly shaken and scared at this time because this is not common in our area, we live in a good part of the city, asked me to go see what the commotion was, I got up went to look out the peephole and i saw nothing. Thinking nothing of it I opened the door, poked my head out and looked both ways down the hallway. Nothing. Marking it off as just that I went back to bed and reassured my fiancee it was nothing as well, just a drunk girl just getting back from the bar.
After we had finally got up and around we decided to go out to lunch, now this is something that still gives me nightmares every night when I close my eyes. We step outside of out building and start walking, it was oddly devoid of any commotion. As we walked though my fiance turned to me and said " I wanna go back home, I dont feel saf..." thats all she could get out as a man and a woman both wild with fury and pure rage rushed out of the ally we were in front of, my fiancee was real close to the entrance to the ally so she was the one who they got to first.... I tried to get them off her but they were so strong, stronger than any natural human could be, just strong with pure desire. I grabbed my fiance's hand and tried to pull her away but it was already covered in blood, I felt our hands slip apart and as it did her engagement ring came off into my hand. I watched my fiance die right in front of me.
Then the man turned to me with that look in his eyes, I knew I was next. So I ran, I ran as hard as I could to get away, I feel so empty, i feel so worthless that I left the love of my life there to be eaten alive by these people. But I was afraid for my own life.
He had almost got me but I made it to out building and into the door just at the right time, I shut it and barred it with the chair they sit next to the door in the lobby. It wasnt much but it held him just enough for me to get away. I got back to my apartment, locked the doors, shoved everything I could in front of the door I could get a-hold of. The rest of the day I just laid on the bed, crying, sobing, looking at my fiance's ring. I just wanted to wake up from this nightmare and be with her, but in the back of my mind, I knew this was no dream...
