It's a terrible thing, Steve, but my first time was in a parking lot. It was threatening to rain soon, and I remember the wind kicking up a good deal of debris. I put my collar up and hurried to the car, my thoughts on the day's activity.

As I slipped a key into the door, I heard something scrape on the pavement close at hand. I turned. It lurched forward, one leg held at an unnatural angle. The thing's skin was grayish, its eyes a sick yellow, shifting uncontrollably within sunken sockets.

I had time to clamber into the car and slam lock the doors. The thing mashed its face against the side window, leaving a trail of slime along the glass.

I started the engine and threw the vehicle into reverse. I left it swaying in the parking lot, face turned to the wind.

I'm in high hopes. We got together another winters worth of food and a still fortified station(with occasional incident). But all in all I think me and the people of this little barricaded ex-grocery store can finally have a descent winter.
I really hope we are not the only ones around here who are able to stay safe and stay fed. If not we may have some food to spare but we will wait for first frost before we start to make our way to stations in need. I am sorry...

yeah I have a plan to go to mackinaw also. Its fort is operatable. the ports are easy to defend it has its own electic system. We need everyone to bring weapons supplies, fuel, and anything other that you think can be helpfull. There is a weapon shop either in mackinaw island or close by i cant remember. there are markets, and hotels that have food. if this does happen. dont drink water from sinks it is probably infected by now. another note is that animals cant turn into zombies. no matter what youve heard or seen they cant. another note is dogs go crazy if they smell, hear, sence a zombie nearby. get out of town and to mackinaw island quickly. take only 1-3 days getting fuel, bottled water, canned food, and weapons. if it is possible bring a generator. as for the farries. we can my Dad, uncle, and cousin. who all live nearby can operate boats. another note about mackinaw island is that the govener mansion is there the guards are armed. a fact about zombies is they cant run, swim, and they dont have better strength. they are slow but can walk underneath the water some called "Floaters" float to the top and when they try to walk they kinda swim. so a boat isnt the safest place to stay on for a long duration of time. they have enhanced hearing and smell so be quiet and out of sight at all times.

I just got back from Traverse City, Michigan. There was "road construction" at all roads leading into the city. Oddly enough there was at least one police vehicle at each "construction zone". There are little signs of the outbreak there,(blood in the streets, heightened police presence, distant gunshots) but they seem to have it under control...for now.

Yeah, the bridge to the UP would be a gore fest during an outbreak, all the people would bottle-neck for sure and have nowhere to go. I have a boat but it's way over by Charlevoix, so about an 8 - 10 hour trip to Drummond, I would sty off the roads for sure. The island would be safe until the passage freezes, I don't know how a zombie reacts to cold weather. Would they freeze solid or cross the ice to the island? I never though of that till just now!

When I see something horrible happening I always think of Saul Bellows title "More Die of Heartbreak". A lot of the youngsters around here think of this as a video shooting game but this is a scenerio of absolute devastation. The zombies don't have to rip your heart from your chest to kill you. They can kill you without ever coming near you by destroying every thing you hold dear.
