jer yes that guy made one that really works but he refuses to share his plans with anyone and even if he did he custom made the parts for it with a 3d printer. that guys like an imaginer for Disney or something i'm just not good enough to make one like that. using off the shelf parts from homedepo this is the best i can do.

bruin I'm actually making a larger one that goes over the arm. it even has a separate track just to extend it over the length of your hand, its awesome but not finished yet.

I can't tell from the vid but it looks a lot like the blade is sharp all the way to the base and doesn't extend very far past the tip of the middle finger.  For a weapon worn on the wrist this could be a serious limitation.  Have you considered mounting it on the outside of the wrist instead?  It seems that if you could do that you could curl the wrist downward and have a larger section of blade to utilize.

Either way, another cool invention man.  Fabrication will be key in a Z-Poc!

i think so too and ive tried but i just cant come up with anything. the only option ive come up with that works requires the springs to be reversed so its no longer spring opening. you would have to flick your wrist to make it come out on and then it could be a spring retract and i don't like that method. though i am using it on the longer one thats going to be strapped on top of my forearm.

i think its great! but i do think there should be a retracting mechonism

also this isn't for everyone and its not really a fighting weapon, its more of a quick surprise weapon. i am working on a fighting version though, its a longer one with a sword blade that mounts to the top of the forearm instead of beneath.

I must agree with you that it does look cool. Also, there's also the issue of familiarity with weapons. For example, if I were to use a dagger and that weapon, then I'd probably last longer with a dagger since I'm more used to handling daggers than hidden blades. By the way, I can't watch the video at all. Is it really functional? It doesn't load at all

to answer your first question yes it does have a lock on the front that fixes the blade in place once it extends. here is the video regarding it.

now yes a dagger would do the same thing but it takes extra time to grab that dagger, a swell as the moment necessary to do so might give you away. a flex of your wrist is all it takes with this and instantly you have a weapon ready to use. and i could also go into how it can act as armor to block an attack, or how it can be switched out to conceal a quick draw gun like so.

but at the end of the day i made it because it was cool, and can do all those other things.

Eh? My concern about this weapon is whether the blade can be fixed into its position when it is extended because if it cannot be fixed well enough, then the blade won't do a great deal of damage regardless of whether you're using it on a zombie or live human being. Also, if the purpose of that weapon is concealment, then I think a simple dagger hidden somewhere in your body may yield the same result.
