I like it. Very good. So far, my small group hasn't gone through this yet. It's scary to think that this is what it can come to

Good stuff. It's got a good vibe to it. Don't over criticize yourself or your work. We are a pack of no budget amateurs who do this as a hobby.

I really enjoyed the vibe of this. The feel. There was a tension there that made me want to keep watching.

Alot of times it's compelling dialogue that holds the viewers interest more than the image on the screen. Tarantino is a master of that. However...

I hate scripted dialogue when you're working with people who are not trained actors. Hell even trained actors can destroy well written lines.

I've worked alot with TV shows and mostly sketch comedy type stuff but for something like this and when working with people who are just friends and family and who have no acting background I have found that it's all about good direction over a good script.

With good direction you can take someone who swears up and down that they could never act and then turn them into an Oscar winner. So what I do when working with everyday working stiffs is I scrap the lines totally. I get my actors to feel the scene.

I usually will grab people who naturally fit a part. That makes life so much easier. Then you can just tell the people to be themselves. All you have to do is set up the scene for them and then ask them what would they do in this situation. Then roll film. You may go through 30 takes before you get gold but you WILL get gold.

If you're lucky enough to have a few people in your circle who have studied theater or drama or have taken acting lessons then even better. however, alot of times these folks can ham it up a bit too much.

As Bunker said it's never easy. Not really. From scouting location, to shooting, to editing, to posting. None of it is ever quick or painless. especially when you've got a vision that you need to get out of your head and onto film.

Alot of people don't understand that even making a 5min short can take days. Hell I produced a 30min weekly TV show and it would take me at least a day or two just to edit. that's not including the time to get content and then shoot it. All on next to no budget.

But you've got the hard part out of the way. You were able to evoke a feeling. You set a mood. We've all seen films that have great acting and great cinematography but the film is dry and lifeless. Yet on the flipside we've all seen some really really bad flix with pron style acting and rotten camera work but if the mood is right then you'll be watching magic.

4 stars!

Thanks guys for the feedback...I feel that the message is not entirely lost in translation...Lost, thank you for your suggestions. I will take this into consideration for the next project. Fact is, the place where we have been filming all of this will no longer be available to us come Friday so that will be it for this location but I can do more and better.

Bunker, as for your feedback, thanks. Somebody else gets it. I never realized starting out (before I actually started filming any movies) how much time and effort goes into it from every angle and you summed that up nicely. It is hard work. I explained it to a friend recently (who thinks I am a bit mad by the way) that making films has always been something I've wanted to do. I think it is unlikely that I will ever be famous or a household name but this allows me to live that dream to some small extent. It gives me a chance to contribute pieces to the puzzle that I might not otherwise have done. I am passionate about what we are doing here and I can almost guarantee that even past the point of when the Doc is finished, I will continue to make these silly little films and enjoy it.

Thanks for the feedback from everyone and I hope that everyone who views it will be kind enough to make suggestions or at the very least let me know what works and what doesn't...thanks.

Why has this vid only three stars? thats total not the case, i mean it has story, good dialogue and shows a perfect example what the whole zombie idea is about.
I was afraid of the gunshot at 1.37, i think you did a great job on actual telling a story, a story wich kept me watching this. I mean that was the whole point of dawn of the dead, and if you have read the walking dead comics, you understand the point of the scene.
And to put a story to film is much more work then just making jokes in front of the camera.

And seriuosly this was well written, and perfectly done, and everybody who do a similiar thing like bruin and writting a story and try to put it on video knows how difficult it is and should see the work behind it and not just rate it down becaus it seems not zombie related.

I think it tells you alot more which menace zombies are by showing this instead of some zeds.
Group behaviour is one of the most interesting thing in a survivalstory. Not to repeat Lost, but i wanted to say some words. And the bloody chest, really looked what can i say, nothing more then good.

Want to see more definately.
